Dax Shepard - Biography - Moviefone
With a background in improvisational comedy and a reputation as a class clown, Dax Shepard seemed the obvious choice for the role of a Punk'd field agent -- and the opportunity to put one over on some of the biggest names in show business must have been impossible to resist.
Though it wasn't his first onscreen role, Punk'd provided Shepard with the recognition needed to further his onscreen career, and just a year after debuting with Ashton Kutcher's merry band of pranksters, the up-and-coming comic actor was scheduled to appear in no less than three major film releases.
As 2006 dawned, Shepard continued to stick with his genre roots for several screen comedies.

Shepard: Yeah, for better or worse, they really gave me free reign, which was a blast for me. That's what kept me as excited day-to-day filming midnight in a Costco was how much leeway they let me have.
Shepard: Well, the obvious answer is that if he is to win for an 18th time, he will be given a free Chevy Malibu.
Shepard: Yeah, you know the thing that he did that's miraculous is he wrangled six comedians every single day and kept us all on course.

Echo Online :: Arts & Entertainment :: Dax Shepard
Shepard, whose first name was inspired by the protagonist of a best-selling book from the '70s entitled "The Adventurers," has recently modified his opinion regarding his official title.
As a young lad, Shepard was the stereotypical class clown, ceaselessly jangling nerves and instigating wars with teachers.
DAX: That was great because both of those guys had done 30 movies a piece and it was my first movie, so they could have easily just kept me on the outskirts.

 The Dax Shepard Picture Pages
Dax, the cousin of actor Jason Shepard (born May 20, 1980), was a class clown.
While doing improv at the Groundlings, Dax was called in to audition for "Punk'd." And his skills as an improviser led to his breakout role on the MTV’s wildly successful hidden camera prank show, as Ashton Kutcher’s "field agent" who would wear wigs and mustaches to catch celebrities in outlandish, embarrassing situations.
More recently, Dax was offered to star in director Greg Coolidge's newly-released comedy, Employee of the Month, as Vince the thoroughly obnoxious, fastest cashier in the Southwest at a Costco-like warehouse store who battles against Dane Cook to be the Employee of the Month and to win the heart of Jessica Simpson.

 Featured Star at WorstPreviews™
Born and raised in a small Michigan town, Dax Shepard gives off that “just a regular frat dude” vibe that guys like Paul Walker, Sean William Scott, and Johnny Knoxville (when he’s not on “Jackass”) have perfected.
Shepard literally had almost zero experience in show business prior to his stint on “Punk’d,” so he deserves a lot of credit for being able to improvise with reasonably high profile celebrities in some potentially volatile situations.
Shepard will play a dumb career criminal who ends up sharing a cell with a man who has inherited a great fortune.

It's fortunate that Dax Shepard's first name looks like an airport code, because it gives us an excuse to write the most convoluted, drawn-out airport metaphor in Fametracker history.
Dax and Jimmy were both, at one time, stars of sketch comedy shows and are now branching out to movies.
Maybe if Dax had come along in a year or so, long after Fallon had rocketed to stardom/faded into obscurity, he would be allowed to make his way in peace.
