  IGN: Daxter Review
It's an absolute pleasure moving Daxter around the world, as everything from the refined acceleration and deceleration when stopping and going again to in-air movement, input response and essentially the entire control mechanism has been fine-tuned to no end.
Daxter's movement ties directly into his animation set, and this too is rather phenomenal.
Speaking of climbing walls, key to Daxter's gameplay is its level design, and developer Ready at Dawn has created great set pieces to test the little guy's abilities.

Daxter for PSP Review - PSP Daxter Review
Daxter may be the fifth game in Sony's flagship Jak and Daxter franchise, but it's still responsible for many firsts.
Daxter is every bit as entertaining as its PS2 counterparts, looks absolutely stunning, and manages to pack the full console experience into a handheld without being dumbed down in the slightest.
Daxter follows the Jak formula closely, but in the absence of a Jak game in the end of last year, Daxter plugs the hole almost perfectly, by offering console-rich action-platforming gameplay that is almost better because it's on the PSP.

Jak and Daxter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Jak and Daxter series received heavy attention from its first announcement, largely due to its predecessor, the Crash Bandicoot series of games (evidence of the ties between the two games is vast, including a 'spin' move and many similar objects shared between the two series).
After a short battle, Daxter falls into a pit of Dark Eco and becomes an orange Ottsel, a fictional animal resembling a combination of an otter and a weasel.
Jak, Daxter, Keira, and Samos travel through a rift to Haven City, and Jak is captured by members of the evil Baron Praxis's Krimzon Guard.

Daxter’s bug spray can be used to temporary stun his opponents.
Daxter, of course, is one individual who cannot stay still so he’s always motoring all over the place during cutscenes and his facial expressions alone will guarantee to make you laugh.
Daxter himself has a perfect fitting voice to go along with his obnoxious attitude and supporting characters also sound character appropriate.

 Review - Daxter // PSP /// Eurogamer
So, Daxter is fairly linear in terms of how you progress through the game - you're told to travel to various areas around Haven City and squish all the bugs you can find, essentially, collecting all the gold nuggets they drop.
In short, Daxter is a highly polished game that, for once, really does set a new standard in terms of what we can expect from future PSP titles.
Daxter is platforming at its best; it's a game that stays true to the genre's roots and doesn't muck about with vehicular combat, gritty urban environments, baddies called Tyrone Cokedealer or any of that nonsense.

 JakDaxter
The lineage of Jak and Daxter and its extensive gestation is at this point well-known.
The breadth of Jak and Daxter means that it will take hours and hours to complete, making it easily the most ambitious platform title on any console in recent years.
One superb thing about the design Jak and Daxter is that while the game is basically non-linear, completing certain tasks unlock other areas so you are softly pushed through the game while never feeling you’re on rails, giving the game a good flow and keeping a sense of exploration and adventure throughout.

Daxter Review for PSP - Gaming Age   (Site not responding. Last check: )
It isn’t surprising than that expectations for Daxter were pretty high - not only was it to be the first PSP game based on the Jak & Daxter Universe, but also the first time that Daxter would have to tackle an adventure on his own.
The basic idea is that you use the analog nub to move Daxter around, the D-pad to control the view (from 1st person to 3rd person) or switch weapons, and the shoulder buttons to manipulate the camera left or right.
If I had to hold one thing against Daxter (and Ready at Dawn) it’s that they raised the bar so high that it’s probably going to be a while before there is another PSP title that reaches this level of quality.

 Daxter (psp: 2006): Reviews
Daxter allows gamers to play from his perspective offering a distinctive set of moves with agile abilities that allows players to climb walls, creep up on enemies, fit in small places and maneuver vehicles.
Daxter is a superb platform adventure that I highly recommend, and Ready at Dawn is to be commended for coming to bat for the PSP and filling the void that's plagued the system for almost a year.
Daxter’s failing, despite it being a solid and entertaining platformer, is that it does feel a bit short and a bit lacking.

Jak & Daxter The Precursor Legacy Sony Play Station 2 Video Game Review by AceGamez
Jak and Daxter are a couple of inseparable friends living in Sandover Village, built on a picturesque and idyllic coastline.
Daxter is just hilarious; he moonwalks, he does robot dancing, he pirouettes and breakdances all over the place, he plays air guitar, flexes his puny muscles and sometimes he'll slam dunk the power cell into Jak's backpack like a basketball!
Jak & Daxter is one of an elite group of games that have been created and developed with such loving care and attention that it shines through in every respect.

During the faster maneuvers, Daxter’s scrawny body will stretch as his friend’s speed will pull his front paws and head away from his hindquarters, which left hovering in the air, must snap back like an elastic band in order to catch up to the action.
Daxter is a clown and a showoff, there to Moonwalk and do the Hustle during victorious moments such as the discovery of a needed orb, and again to chide the player when, as Jak, fails to survive.
From what I played today, Daxter’s role is mainly that of a scene-stealer than that of a game character and clearly Naughty Dog, the game’s creators are steering clear and away from a Banjo-Kazooie imitator.

Daxter (the game) tells the story of Daxter's life in the two years after he and Jak were transported to the futuristic Haven City and before he got around to rescuing Jak from the clutches of Baron Praxis.
In fact, Daxter is just about the best-looking game we've seen on the PSP to date, and it's really not that far behind the PS2 games in terms of visual quality, aside from the expected detail reductions like texture resolution.
We found Daxter to represent a noticeable increase in visual quality over a lot of the launch PSP titles we've seen recently, which bodes well for the future of the system (and Ready At Dawn, presumably).

Daxter, on the other hand, decided to stick with what he knows, getting picked up by developer Ready at Dawn to star role in his very own platform game.
The appropriately named Daxter for the PSP is set in the Jak and Daxter universe and takes place between the Precursor Legacy and Jak II.
Daxter is a testament to Sony's dedication to this franchise, as despite changing developers, it still holds up as a great platformer.

PS2 Game Reviews: Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
Jak and Daxter are best of friends, Daxter is the annoying, cowardly, and yet laugh out loud funny character, while Daxter is the brave, silent cliché type character (think Mario and Crash Bandicoot) who doesn't have time for words.
Daxter is not a playable character in the game, as he is only present for comedic merit.
Daxter, providing the comedic relief, has a very amusing voice that is ideal for any cartoon character.

 Shacknews.com - Game Reviews
"Daxter" may be the first outstanding platformer for the PSP, not only getting the control scheme with the PSP right, but also carrying over a lot from the Jak and Daxter game series in the title.
Daxter's also light enough that the sprayer can be used as a short-range hover jet, giving him the ability float for a short bit.
While Daxter may not use the full engine, the same elements are there, with a great amount of detail in both the foreground while still avoiding pixalation for background elements.

Daxter may sound like only half a game, in the same way that "mother" is only half a word (think about it, I'll give you a moment.) That's because Daxter was one half of the team of Jak and Daxter.
Daxter is a very funny game in the tradition of Ratchet and Clank but not as edgy as Conker the foul-mouthed squirrel.
Daxter still performs the same basic moves such as crawling, jumping and climbing but they are used in different contexts and situations.

When climbing a wall, Daxter seems more like a lizard than the squirrel-like creature he is. Advancing in levels can be upsetting sometimes as this is done through air ducts that will be a real pain to find if located near the ceiling of a room or hidden at the bottom of the screen.
Daxter is a mountain of fun, with his silly cute cartoon-style eyes and orange fur.

Plus the fact that Daxter has unlimited lives and auto-saves all the time (which is good since this is a portable game) it is just sad that the difficulty isn’t ramped up just slightly.
Daxter really doesn’t expand upon the genre in any new form or fashion like its console brethren, but that really doesn’t make a difference, because this is a great game to play.
