Topic: Dayparts

Dayparting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In broadcasting, dayparting is the practice of dividing the day into several parts, during each of which a different type of radio programming or television programming apropos for that time is aired.
For example, rush hours are often particular dayparts for radio stations.
Dayparting is also used in Online Marketing, and is the act of ads appearing during specific time periods.

 Defining Dayparts
The push to market Internet advertising in dayparts is part of publishers' effort to speak in the language understood by advertisers and agencies geared to working in traditional media.
Yahoo has sold dayparts since 2001, and its ad chief solutions officer, Tim Sanders, sang the praises of dayparts at last year's @d:Tech conference.
Dayparts are attractive to publishers mostly because they can charge a sizable premium during work hours, when Internet advertisers are five times more likely than television advertisers to reach consumers, according to the NAA study.

Daytripping: Getting the Most from Google Dayparts
A daypart is a consecutive block of time on similar days (weekdays or weekends) when the target audience or campaign environment shares characteristics that can influence the effectiveness of a campaign.
Each of these dayparts can be characterized by their usage levels, demographics and the type of content sought.
An important element of dayparting strategies is to remove ads during times when conversions are low or when keyword prices are high.

Florida chad-fest pumps TV in all dayparts
Viewing levels increased by sizable margins but not just during news-heavy dayparts, as might be expected, but in all dayparts for the several weeks of recounting in November until Bush was declared the winner.
Viewing among adults 25-54, for example, was up 11.1 percent during the early morning news daypart, 6.2 percent during the day (based on viewing among women), 9.3 percent during the early evening news, and 5.3 percent during late night.
Perhaps most surprising is that daytime viewing increased, since that daypart has been plagued by growing viewer disinterest in the network’s soaps-dominated lineups.

Known as "dayparting" in the industry, Google's ad scheduling will let advertisers control the days and times that AdWords campaigns appear, so that they can target specific markets or place more budget during times when the ads appear to be more effective.
Google is the first of the major search engines in the UK to introduce the service, although MSN is understood to have a similar offer ready to launch.
Google said the development would allow for more sophisticated planning techniques to be employed in search marketing, so that advertisers can track behavioural cycles and manage their campaigns in real time for more effectiveness.
