Richard G. Hill Attorney at Law Reno Nevada_Dayside Inc. v. Dist. CT.
Dayside argues that this court should consider the instant writ petition because whether a contractor may waive its mechanic's lien rights is an issue of first impression in Nevada.
Dayside has not demonstrated that the partial summary judgment dismissing its mechanic's lien was an extra-jurisdictional act or a manifest abuse of discretion warranting extraordinary relief.
Accordingly, we deny Dayside's petition for a writ of mandamus or certiorari.

A global intensification of the aurora was observed by the Ultraviolet Imager on the NASA Polar spacecraft in conjunction with the arrival of the sheath from a solar coronal mass ejection.
Dayside field-aligned angular distributions are interpreted as being photoelectrons fron the ionosphere, while trapped angular distributions are from the low-energy tail of the plasma sheet distribution.
Dayside field aligned PADs are interpreted as being photoelectrons from the ionosphere, while trapped PADs are considered to be the low energy end of the plasma sheet.

Spaceflight Now | Breaking News | Five spacecraft join to solve an auroral puzzle
Seen as bright spots in Earth's atmosphere and called "dayside proton auroral spots," they are now known to occur when fractures appear in the Earth's magnetic field, allowing particles emitted from the Sun to pass through and collide with molecules in our atmosphere.
Dayside proton auroral spots are caused by protons "stealing" electrons from the atoms in our atmosphere.
We can now watch dayside proton aurorae and use those observations to know where and how the cracks in the magnetic field are formed and how long the cracks remain open.

 Dayside aurora [Oulu]
The dayside auroral precipitation consist of magnetosheath related boundary layer precipitation, and plasma sheet related BPS/CPS precipitation (extensions of the nightside precipitation regions).
For example, the much lower fluxes from the LLBL region when compared to the cusp are compensated by the bidirectional electron beams found in the LLBL: the precipitating energy fluxes in the LLBL and the cusp are not that different.
As mentioned before, the general softness of the high-latitude dayside precipitation means that the prevailing emission is the red 630.0 nm, and a strong contribution from the green 557.7 nm indicates typically BSP precipitation.

News Hounds: Racial Bias on Dayside?
Yesterday (10/10) Dayside hosts Juliet Huddy and Mike Jerrick discussed the case of Robert Davis, the gentleman from Louisiana that was recently beaten by local police officers.
As a Dayside viewer, I would be outraged watching this video that anyone would claim that the police were out of hand.
Of course, that's because Dayside didn't air the beginning of the tape, where you can see the police officers punching Davis' head into a wall, and brutally beating him.

News Hounds: 'Dayside' Tosses Objectivity Aside on Chavez Coverage
The crew on Fox News' "Dayside," with just one more day to go before their show is history, decided Thursday (Sept. 21, 2006) to stop pretending they were journalists and just let all their right-wing tendencies hang out.
After a piece on Iranian President Ahmajinedad's speech to the U.N. earlier this week, "Dayside" went to Hugo Chavez's appearance at Mount Olivet Baptist Church in New York, where he was speaking to people and discussing distribution of free heating oil to poor Americans.
Then "Dayside" went to a discussion between Michael Waller of the Institute of World Politics, a graduate school for diplomats that has received grants from organizations with right-wing ties, and Natali Fani, of the Civil Alliance of Latin America.

 The 2nd Dayside Campaign
The Dayside is constantly exposed to the glare of the twin suns and the only darkness is found in the shadows or during particularly heavy dust storms.
The main operations areas on the Dayside are dominated by huge areas of flattish desert that stretch from the twilight zone at the foot of the Rimwall Mountains to the Rhondda Mountains at the Hot Pole in the Deep Dayside.
Dayside Campaign was the story of the seizing of enemy bases and the setting up of human supply dumps inside them due to the small number of suitable locations in the area.

Report on the workshop on dayside transients   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
The ionosphere is often used as the TV screen on which dayside transients are observed, and as such it is often regarded as a passive medium.
Much of the knowledge of dayside transients has come from studies in the ionosphere but mapping these phenomena to the dayside magnetopause is carried out with very little confidence, especially away from noon.
Many dayside transients may result of pressure pulses or rarefactions created earthward of the bow shock and thus are not advecting with the upstream solar wind.

INTERBALL OBSERVATIONS OF THE DAYSIDE MAGNETOPAUSE
We present the results of observations of two dayside magnetopause crossings, discuss quasi-periodic plasma pulses of magnetosheath-like plasma near dayside magnetopause, ion dispersive beams, and the evolution with time of fluid and kinetic behavior of ions after the first magnetopause crossing.
Two cases at the low-latitude dayside magnetopause illustrate the transient plasma phenomena at the magnetopause, including velocity bursts in the magnetosheath, the mixture of magnetosheath and magnetospheric plasma and plasma bursts in the magnetosphere.
The dayside magnetopause crossings show transient phenomena: number density, velocity, and temperature jumps and a leakage of hot magnetospheric ions into the magnetosheath that suggest non-stationary reconnection as the most probable reason for observed transients.

ON THE SELF-CONSISTENT DETERMINATION OF DAYSIDE MAGNETOPAUSE SHAPE AND POSITION
A new for the astrophysical tasks grid- characteristic gasdynamic numerical scheme is proposed for simulation the axially symmetric dayside magnetosheath.
In all of the implemented numerical examples the shape and the position of the bow shock and those of the tangential discontinuity simulating dayside magnetopause, are obtained in terms of discontinuity-fitting approach.
A common expectable conclusion could be done, that the implementation of preliminary determined dayside magnetopause position and shape, usually used by now, is in general reasonable enough approximation.

We propose that the cause for the current sheet thinning is convection from the midnight tail region to the dayside to replenish magnetospheric magnetic flux which is eroded at the dayside as a result of dayside reconnection.
Typical growth phase properties are an increase in dayside convection, the expansion of the auroral oval, often an equatorward motion of quiet auroral arcs, a stretching of the magnetotail magnetic field, and the thinning of the near-Earth current sheet.
The cause of this flow is the removal of magnetic flux and an imbalance between increasing nightside pressure (in part due to an increase of the flaring and lobe field pressure on the nightside).

The dayside cusp is a region of Earth's magnetosphere.
Relatively low energy (in the 100s of electron-volts range) solar wind electrons and protons that enter the magnetosphere in the dayside cusp regions near the magnetic poles can impact Earth's upper atmosphere.
Also, Earth's ionosphere at high latitudes expands supersonically into the dayside cusp, causing charged particles from the atmosphere to mix with the hot, tenuous, solar wind plasma.

ESA Portal - Ireland - ESA's Cluster solves an auroral puzzle   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
These aurorae - seen as bright spots in Earth's atmosphere and called 'dayside proton auroral spots' - occur when fractures appear in the Earth’s magnetic field, allowing particles given out from the Sun to squirt through and collide with the molecules in our atmosphere.
When these excited atoms release their energy, it is given out as light, creating the glowing 'curtains' we see as the aurora borealis (or the aurora australis in the southern hemisphere).
On 18 March last year, a jet of energetic solar protons collided with the Earth's atmosphere and created a bright 'spot' seen by NASA's IMAGE spacecraft, just as Cluster passed overhead and straight through the region where the proton jet was emanating.

We use SuperDARN radar measurements of ionospheric plasma flow on the dayside to evaluate the extent to which substorm onset is the result of interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) changes that lead to a reduction in the strength of magnetospheric convection.
By using direct observations of convection, we avoid the uncertainties in previous studies of substorm triggering arising from their use of IMF measurements from locations away from the magnetosphere.
We find that at least 10 of the onsets were associated with a reduction in the strength of large-scale convection that is imparted to the magnetosphere from the solar wind.

Global dayside ionospheric uplift and enhancement associated with interplanetary electric fields
The dayside satellite GPS receiver data plus ground-based GPS data indicate that the entire equatorial and midlatitude (up to ±50° magnetic latitude (MLAT)) dayside ionosphere was uplifted, significantly increasing the electron content (and densities) at altitudes greater than 430 km (CHAMP orbital altitude).
Our hypothesis is that the interplanetary electric field “promptly penetrated” to the ionosphere, and the dayside plasma was convected (by E × B) to higher altitudes.
Part of this increase may be due to a “superfountain effect.” The dayside ionospheric TEC above ∼430 km decreased to values ∼45% lower than quiet day values 7 to 9 hours after the beginning of the electric field event.

In the SMT scenario [Southwood and Kivelson, 1992, 1995], this process is of endogeneous origin and should be necessary to divert the solar wind in front of the magnetopause.
