	DeadAIM - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		DeadAIM is a program created by JDennis to add new features to and disable the advertising in AOL Instant Messenger (AIM).
		The last release of DeadAIM was version 4.5 in 2003, which works with AIM version 5.5.3595.
		DeadAIM uses an OCM file, similar to a DLL, to load into AIM.

		DeadAIM gets rid of the ads, allows you to set up tabbed windows much like Mozilla, log messages, even use transparency.
		If you are going to install the free version of DeadAIM, you have to use AIM 4.8.2790 instead of the current AIM release.
		J Dennis won’t let you download it from his site now without a donation but the file is floating around on the Internet so I guess you could call it donation-ware still.

		I broke down and just paid $5 for DeadAIM, this awesome AIM add-on program that lets you modify the look of your buddy window (for example, no more ads!) and it automatically logs all of your conversations.
		So although it has taken me this long to get it, now I am certain that it will be money well spent.
		DeadAIM is the best AIM add-on I've seen so far.

		I like Deadaim better, Aimutation just seems too clonky and wonky with crashes during the time I experienced it.
		I use middle-man...i think its betta than both if u dont mind havin no skins(but u can make ur buddylist transparent) u get this cool ghosting feature where ur signed off and can still talk........i dont no if dead aim or aimutation have that feature cuz i didnt have them for that long.

		Since DeadAIM is $5, I'm pretty sure this is requesting warez.
		This could get you in a lot of trouble here, if I were you I'd either edit your post, or double check with a mod first.
		However, if you want a free alternative to Trillian Pro (or DeadAIM since it too is not free) I would go with Gaim.

		i tried installing deadaim on my old laptop (win95), but when after installing it, I try to run aim and get error message "Module C:\PROGRAM FILES\...deadaim.ocm failed due to error 1157.
		AIM works when I uninstall it, and I know the version of deadaim also works becasue I use it on my other computer (winXP).
		both aim and deadaim are older versions that are supposed to run with win95.

		The old version of AIM is significantly less shitty than new versions, there are no obtrusive ads, and its not bloatware.
		Add the old version of DeadAIM and you have a real winner.
		Deadaim is now $5, but this version is freeware, it adds tabbed IM windows and removes the ads, what you end up with is a simple AIM client that is fully functional (you can use direct connect and file transfers) and just rocks.
