Deadbolt (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hailing mostly from the San Diego, California area, "The Scariest Band in the World", as Deadbolt musicians describe themselves, combines surf rock, psychobilly and blues sound with unusual and offbeat lyrics.
Former members of the band include Les Vegas and The Phantom (Tom Perry, current 91X DJ and former DJ at WHFS and 92/5).

Deadbolt - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Unlike a spring-bolt (in which the bolt is held in place only by the pressure of a spring, and can easily be retracted), a deadbolt lock cannot be opened except by rotating the lock cylinder.
A variant of the standard deadbolt is the vertical deadbolt, which generally rests on top of a door.
Vertical deadbolts resist jimmying (in which an intruder inserts a pry bar between the door and the frame and tries to pry the bolt out of the jamb).

 Drop Dead Festival Part 1
The band cook up another regular-flavoured rockabilly stew, albeit a little heavier on the spooky seasoning; there’s a load of reverb on the vocals for that down in the morgue at midnight feel, and even a sudden microphone breakdown doesn’t stop the band’s flow.
A side effect of the rise of the Inkies was that any band which seemed at least vaguely sympathetic to the Pagan cause was more or less co-opted into the UK goth scene at that time, and Seventh Wave were one of these.
The band’s visual identity is weirdly at odds with the thump and pound of the music, in that aside from vocalist Max himself, an energetic master of ceremonies throughout, nobody moves much on stage.

The Deadbolt - Interview - Illuminating Elijah Wood
In a recent sit down with the popular actor, The Deadbolt managed to tap into Wood's talent as an actor, his work on this latest project, his love for music, and life in general.
I met him for the film, spent a good two hours with him at a hotel and it was really funny because it was a new process for him to interview actors for a role in his movie.
We got on so well immediately and it was really that particular meeting, which sold me on wanting to be part of the film because it expanded upon what I already loved about the story and the way that it was written in the script.

Get ready to ask yourself why the hell you've suddenly been smitten by a band whose songs all sound the same, 'cause truth be told Deadbolt make The Ramones sound like Neil Young when it comes to musical growth and experimentation.
The first time I heard about Deadbolt was in an interview in Flipside where the band and the interviewer finish the interview by firing a gun into a hotel mattress and fleeing into the night.
Deadbolt do a whole lot of stuff that people aren't used to, and the hour and forty-five minutes they played are some of the best I've ever had.

Deadbolt, for the uninitiated, is this San Diego trio that calls themselves "the world's scariest rock 'n' roll band." Voodoo Trucker is their fifth release.
Moreover, the band's sense of wicked, sly humor is sharp throughout, as when "Truck Driving S.O.B." ends with the title trucker making a hippie get out of his truck after he tells him he's going to a folk festival.
People talk a lot about the bands that "changed their lives." Well, for me, The Clash was such a band.

Boston-area hardcore/metal band Blood for Blood was formed in 1995 by guitarist "White Trash" Rob Lind, vocalist Erick Medina, and drummer Mike Maloney, with bassist Ian McFarland replacing the original bass player some time afterward.
During their eight-year existence from 1994 to 2001, the emo/indie rock band Six Going on Seven released three full-lengths and a number of stray singles and compilation appearances.
The Reverend (as both the three-man band and its guitar-playing frontman were known) built a strong cult following during the '90s through constant touring, manic showmanship, and a twisted sense of humor.

Aural Fixation - Deadbolt: Voodoo Trucker
The unsavory band of cuthroats have stowed away on a tramp steamer leaving the tiki-zulu death masks on the dark continent behind for the swamps and the endless highways of route 666.
And as if to prove that they are in fact the laziest band on earth, they even recycle music wholesale from an earlier release, changing the voiceover only.
Voodoo Trucker ranks among some of the better Deadbolt albums, but it's not quite as good as a Tiki Man. The difference is that a lot of these songs are sort of passive listeners, with the music serving as a backdrop for misccelaneous CB chatter.

 Deadbolt
San Diego's Deadbolt, the self-professed "scariest band in the world," plays what they call "voodoobilly." The term a little misleading though; their sound is more like Dick Dale playing a special gig at a s?ance.
Their albums are filled with creepy tales that will make you feel like you are in Botswana gunning down a group of machete-wielding poachers who were trying to move in on your rhino.
By now the members of Deadbolt -- voodoo guitarist/creepy organist/vocalist Harley Davidson, bassists R.A. MacLean and 3rd Degree Burns, and drummer Clay Moore Mines -- are veterans of the voodoobilly business, with five albums to their credit.

 babysue®: LMNOP® Reviews - January 2002
Deadbolt is an unusual band that plays moody music with cool husky vocals and some absolutely killer western-style guitar work.
Although the band's compositions are heavily reliant upon imaginative studio tricks the songs themselves are strong enough to stand on their own.
From the band name and publicity photo, one would expect Smashmouth to be another one of those generic samey hard thrashy rock bands that have become a dime a dozen of late.

 Tucson Weekly: Soundbites (May 16 - May 22, 2002)
Musically, the band explores not only the shag and go-go vibe, but also taps into spy themes, rockabilly, exotica, surf, garage rock, and spaghetti western soundtracks.
Perhaps the coolest thing about Deadbolt is that each of its seven full-length records--all released on Headhunter/Cargo--is a concept album.
While the band starts with a base of creepy rockabilly, it also alters its sound according to whatever the current album's theme is (e.g., Voodoo Trucker, Tiki Man, and Tijuana Hit Squad).

While they were never one of the better bands to begin with, they play death metal the way it was meant to be played: fast, technical, and piled with grooves.
With so much mind-boggling fl metal and a few notable powermetal bands, it's sometimes easy to lose sight of their more somber, melancholy sibling, doom.

In 1980, the band signed to Island records and released Boy, but U2 shot to even bigger stardom in 1983 with the release of War, which spawned the classic U2 anthem Sunday Bloody Sunday.
