		Dean Saunders (born 21 June 1964 in Swansea) was a Welsh footballer and was a prolific forward.
		Saunders began his career with Swansea City on leaving school in 1980, and during his time at the club was loaned out to neighbours Cardiff City.
		Dean Saunders was one of the Welsh national side's most prolific goalscorers.

		Saunders had been Professor of Geology and Geography at Washington State Normal School in Ellensburg from 1898 to 1905 and from 1907 to 1909; he had been an assistant in physiography and meteorology at Harvard and Radcliffe in 1906-1907 while working toward his M.A. with William Morris Davis.
		In addition to being the head of the geology (later geology and geography) programs, from 1913 to 1934 he was dean of science, and in 1914-15 was acting President of the university.
		Saunders' appointment in 1909 brought a major new asset, and Landes shared with him the teaching programs in regular terms as well as in the evening, Saturday, and Summer programs.

		The BBC today reports in the story "Count me in, says Deano" that both Dean Saunders and Kevin Sheedy have joined the race to succeed Brian Flynn as Wrexham's manager.
		The BBC reports that another plus as far as Saunders is concerned is Wrexham's proximity to his Liverpool home, having turned down a player-coach role with Crystal Palace recently because he didn't want to uproot his family again.
