		Born Ira Dean Jagger in Columbus Grove, Ohio.
		Jagger's few leads include a 1935 Zane Grey Western for Paramount, WANDERER OF THE WASTELAND a 1936 Poverty Row thriller, REVOLT OF THE ZOMBIES (1936), and WHEN STRANGERS MARRY (1944) an unheralded little B thriller of surprising quality, costarring Jagger with Kim Hunter and Robert Mitchum and directed by William Castle.
		A vaudeville and stage actor since the 20s, he made his film debut in 1929, developing into a fine lead and character actor.

		I think "Parrish" has run into this because they are deciding which scenes to delete from the classic DVD because with the TV technology people will not have to see movies in theaters anymore when they can have a simulation of the theater in their home.

		The 1968 western "Firecreek" reminded me of "Bad Day at Black Rock" (from 1955), not least for having Dean Jagger regretting at great length his weakness in both.
		Although it's too talky, overburdened with side-plots, and very slow starting, the actors are very good (excepting Jagger, but including a glowering circuit-riding preacher played by Ed Begley and, especially, Louise Latham as a midwife with no patience for fathers hanging about).
		In confronting killers from outside (and in another way that is only obvious at the end), "High Noon" is an obvious influence, and James Stewart hoping to avoid trouble, but implacable once he finally takes on fighting reprises much of what he did in westerns directed by Anthony Mann during the 1950s.
