		A father narrates (he is the only one who would know how he would kiss each curl of his daughter's hair) and muses on how his daughter will react now that she has awoken and is soon to discover that her pet chicken is dead.
		The woods were the attractiveness of the mystery that sometimes is death when compared to the sometimes conflict filled daily life.
		I have not yet come to grips with all of the themes as of yet and I am looking forward to having it read by a few friends of mine.

		I am surprised that Death Comes to the Archbishop got a number of negative comments since I considered it a fine piece of work and a bit different from most of her other writing.
		He also told me a number of times that he felt strongly that his mother (who was a diabetic and died relatively young) ""worked herself to death"" because of the hours she spent working in the fields and the house.
		After reading O Pioneers!, Death Comes For the Archbishop and My Antonia, I think that My Antonia is still my favorite though I've loved all three.

		In the end, Cather writes, "the Archbishop died of having lived." This is a simply written yet compelling book that you can read in one or two sittings, and you'll be richer for the experience.
		Overall, Death Comes for the Archbishop is such a lovely little novel.
