Life-death-rebirth deity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The category life-death-rebirth deity also known as a "dying-and-rising" god is a convenient means of classifying the many divinities in world mythology who are born, suffer death or an eclipse or other death-like experience, pass a phase in the underworld among the dead, and are subsequently reborn, in either a literal or symbolic sense.
From his studies of alchemy and other spiritual systems, the Swiss psychologist Carl Jung argued that archetypal processes such as death and resurrection were part of the transpersonal symbolism of the Collective Unconscious, and could be utilized in the task of psychological integration.
From this point of view, Adonis's death is only one datum among the many that must be used to analyze the festival, the myth and the god.

According to the Buddha, death is the temporary end of a temporary phenomenon.
Death is not the complete annihilation of an existence because while organic life has ceased, the kammic force that had previously actuated is has not ended.

Death looks very different whether one dies slowly, like from AIDS or cancer, or if one's body disintegrates due to stepping on a landmine, or having a high-speed accident.
Now, close to death, one's breathing is shallow and harsh and non-meditators lose the last ability to focus their mind.
After deciding the realm of rebirth, it furthermore brings about the kind of body we get, into which environment we are born, and which kind of motivation we live by.

Death is the final event in life, and is celebrated by the same important rites of passage that mark every significant transition in the life of an individual or a community in Africa.
As in initiation, death is a leaving behind of one phase of life and the beginning of another, and so, the death of an elder includes separation from the community of the living, a journey to the land of ancestors and reintegration into the world of the ancestral spirits.
Death stands between the world of human beings and the world of spirits, between the visible and the invisible" (Mbiti 1969:145).

There is the process of death itself, there is the thing that happens after death, the continuation of the experiences of our last life and then there are the new experiences as our subconscious starts to go into the shape, go into a certain structure which then leads into our next birth, our reincarnation.
Death in people who step on a mine or get hit by a fast car looks very different from death in someone who dies from Aids or Cancer in a hospital somewhere.
Here people say now this is death but actually we say as a joke sometimes that if people can afford a few days more in a hospital people will come and put electrodes on their hearts and give them a shock and then they will go on for a while longer.

 Death and Rebirth
Death is in Buddhism defined as the separation of the Most Subtle Body and Mind from the more gross aspects of the body and mind.
As this separation is a gradual process, death is not a point in time as in Western thought, but it describes a period during which this separation occurs.
During the death process, it is said that we have a sequence of experiences.

DVD Verdict Review - Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death And Rebirth/The End Of Evangelion Box Set
Death and Rebirth is little more than an extended recap of the series, with a chunk of original story (from what would become The End of Evangelion) tacked on.
The "Death" section of the film consists of scenes from the previous episodes, shuffled and grouped around the theme of each of the main characters—Shinji, Asuka, Misato, and Rei—preparing for a string quartet performance as each experiences a flurry of disjointed flashbacks.
Death and Rebirth comes as a double-sided disc, with the film on one side, presented in (non-anamorphic) widescreen and sporting a muscular, active Dolby 5.1 audio track in English, along with lesser 2.0 tracks in Japanese and English.

Buddhist View on Death and Rebirth
The death of a loved one, or even someone we were not close to, is terribly painful event, as time goes on and the people we know pass away along the journey of life, we are reminded of our own inevitable ends in waiting and everything is a blip of transience and impermanent.
Having lead a responsible and compassionate life and have no regrets when death approaches enables us to surrender without a struggle to the inevitable and in a state of grace which need not be as uncomfortable as we are led to believe.
The Buddha urged us to prepare for death, to prepare for that journey by cleansing the mind and not being so attached to things, to be able to let go and release ourselves for needing to be, from needing to have.

However, unlike the experimental and introspective ending the TV series had, "Rebirth" and "The End of Evangelion" would be ultra-violent, even more psychologically brutal, and result in the horrific deaths of pretty much every single character in the series.
