Deathlok (sometimes also referred to as "The Demolisher") is a Marvel Comics character, a cyborg, created by Rich Buckler and Doug Moench.
Michael Collins was the first Deathlok to be created in the modern era and also the first to be created for the traditional Marvel Universe; he was an African-American pacifist and family man working for the Roxxon Oil cybernetics corporation, whose brain was transplanted against his will into a robotic killing machine.
Although his brain was intended to serve only as a medium for the robot's programming, he was able to assert his will over it (installing a "no-killing parameter" into its programming) and had a brief superheroic career as he desperately searched for his human body, hoping it still existed.

Deathlok (the character's full name, "Demolisher" being an appendage added to the series title, also for unclear reasons) started out as Luther Manning, a U.S. Army officer who had come up through the ranks all the way from private.
Deathlok broke free, however, and afterward used his capacity for death and destruction in service of the CIA, evil corporations, and similar institutions.
Deathlok was created by cartoonist Rich Buckler (Reagan's Raiders), who both plotted and pencilled the origin story as well as subsequent ones in the series.
