Deathspell Omega - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Deathspell Omega are a fl metal band from France.
Initially, Deathspell Omega produced raw, traditional fl metal akin to Darkthrone's Transilvanian Hunger; however, their 2004 release, Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice, marked a change to a more unique and avant garde sound featuring such diverse musical influences as Gregorian Chant and choral music.
Deathspell Omega's assumed members are: Hasjarl, former member of Hirilorn; and Mikko Aspa, responsible for vocals and member of Fleshpress, Clandestine Blaze and Stabat Mater.

Deathspell Omega is a collective entity of minds (or a force), not to be seen as band members/individuals.
As you know, Deathspell Omega deals with religious, metaphysical stakes, and despite the fact that we do definitely have many of our roots in the monotheistic tradition, and indeed in orthodox or puritanical declensions of this stream, we can not honestly pretend that they are exclusively situated there.
Deathspell Omega is very strict about public relations, so how did you choose to work with Clandestine Blaze and Northern Heritage, seeing as their doctrines are, seemingly, different from your own.

Deathspell Omega expands upon the territory they previously set out to conquer, strengthening their attack and delivery into an almost mastered artform.
Even though Deathspell Omega leans heavily on the ambiant parts of their songs in creating a vexingly dark, sinister atmosphere, the fl metal parts are equally responsible for crafting a brooding sound of horror that remains prevalent throughout the album.
Deathspell Omega has thankfully provided a completely solid, interesting album that proves that good fl metal is not all dead.

However, Deathspell Omega’s sound is thicker than their American counterparts, with a slight death metal lean (especially vocally) and not quite as industrial as their country mates.
But Deathspell Omega is not just an atmospheric one trick pony as The Axis of Perdition have become, as their vitriolic fl metal outbursts are as convincingly done as the interludes and atmospheric sections.
Deathspell Omega with an apparently already respectable discography, appear ready to jump into the fl metal elite and I’m sure the official follow up to Si Momentum….

Deathspell Omega - Kénôse - Stylus Magazine
Social relevance is rendered rather easily, as Deathspell’s eschatological infatuation pines away while nationalist religious propaganda and a traditional army is utilized to fight the militant religious propaganda of a non-traditional foe.
Deathspell Omega is certainly one of those hordes, as their latest effort, Kénôse, pummels the eyes and ears with an enigmatic amalgam of biology, theology and arcana.
For each treatise contra Christ, Deathspell raises an elaborate configuration of riffs, plundering percussive fusillades—an able straddling of classical construction and metal bombast that sheaths each piece to the extent that they easily become unrecognizable for what they are: Manna for the nonbeliever.

Deathspell Omega have largely flown under the radar for most of us, no doubt, but this release should hopefully garner the band a lot of much deserved attention.

DEATHSPELL OMEGA's track "Diabolus Absconditus" clocks in at about 22 minutes and is essentially an extension of the style played on their "Kenose" EP.
The vocalist sounds a little different and the production values don't seem to be as good as "Kenose," perhaps this can be attributed to the length of the song as an analog reel can only hold about 15 minutes of material.
They have a little more energy than MUSTA STURMA, which makes them a little more noticeable to me. Their music is very pulsing and has a Thrash/Rock element that gives them a little bit more of a head banging edge than your average Black Metal band.
