This is a very popular film festival in France (second only to Cannes!).
I posted some info and tips about the Deauville festival over on the official board (that's how I actually heard the movie was going to premiere in Deauville--thanks Grimma!).
Knowing France as I know it, the risk of an "intellectual reviewer" (inclined to despise Joss because he is the creator of a teenage TV show with latex monsters) is not negligible (although not as high as 10 years ago, I would say).
