Deborah Watling brings a lot of fun to this Myth Makers, thanks to some convention footage with Frazer Hines.
Combining two interviews, plus some behind the scenes footage from Downtime, complete with snippets from her father, it is surprising how entertaining this is. One bad point is that it heavily concentrates on Doctor Who and sometimes becomes reptitive, although it is interesting to note the clarity with which she recalls her era.
If you were to look at this, you wouldn`t be wrong in thinking there's a touch of the Marrianne Faithful in Debbie Watling, but at least this makes for entertaining viewing.

Deborah Watling makes a charming Alice and there's one sequence where she backs away in fear from the Turtle and the Gryphon as they advance on her, which is almost a precursor to all the monster confrontations she was later to experience as Doctor Who's companion, Victoria.

As Watling herself admitted, a year was sufficient time for her to do as much as she could with the character, so Victoria was certainly not a Leela type.
At the beginning of episode two, in which Victoria puts a dormant Cybermat in her purse after the Doctor warns her not to, I was exclaiming in frustration, "Victoria, you're an idiot!" Nevertheless, I was surprised when this bit of foolishness actually helped her at a crucial point: when she was being threatened by Kaftan.
I liked Hines' quip that the tomb should have had a sign reading "Tomb it may concern," as well as Watling's comment that "You can't kill the Doctor!" I enjoyed their insight into the fact that Troughton knew as little as most of us what the Doctor meant by all his technobabble.

Comments from Deborah Watling (Victoria) are particularly interesting - she was one of the companions least seen, as most of her episodes had been destroyed.
Watling, nicknamed "Leatherlungs" by Troughton and costar Fraser Hines (Jamie), because of all the screaming she did throughout the serial, turns out to be an loyal and fairly smart companion, not the dainty dips*** she had been previously remembered as.

DOCTOR WHO: TOMB OF THE CYBERMEN
Despite her character's odd attacks of being a "New Woman," Deborah Watling also turns in a reasonable performance, especially in the beautiful scene in which she and the Doctor discuss their respective families.
Even the title sequence tests are worth a look, and while we've all seen the introduction the late Morris Barry did in 1992, it's worth honoring his memory to watch it again.
Those unfamiliar with the story may want to watch it without Hines and Watling first, though - while it's fun to listen to them catching up with a story they haven't seen in ten years, Watling does have a tendency of giving plot spoilers, something that Hines endlessly teases her about.

A Special Message From Deborah Watling   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
That dubious achievement has earned her the often repeated nickname of “leatherlungs”, and in my personal opinion, may well have been an inspiration for the similarly talented Jewell, one of my favorite characters on the offbeat space opera Farscape.
Acting is in Deborah’s blood, as her mom, dad, sister, and brother have all had successful careers in the profession, with her father, the late Jack Watling, even having appeared with her on Doctor Who as Professor Travers in The Abominable Snowmen, and again later in The Web Of Fear.
She got her start in the business quite early, and made some memorable appearances as the cute & precocious little daughter on British Television’s The Invisible Man, years before Doctor Who even began.
