  Debut Records
Debut DLPs 2, 3, and 4 were all drawn from a May, 1953 concert at Toronto’s Massey Hall and were called Jazz at Massey Hall, volumes 1, 2, and 3.
Recorded live at the Putnam Central Club in Brooklyn in September, 1953, and released later that year, this album documents the first meeting of what would become a well-known trombone duo, Jay and Kai.
It was recorded relatively early in Debut’s history, in April 1953, but was not released until late 1954 (according to one source) or early 1955 (according to Fantasy).

Debut Records is a United States jazz record company, which was founded in 1952 by Bassist Charles Mingus, his then wife Celia and Drummer Max Roach, this short lived label was an attempt to avoid the compromises of working for major companies.
Intended to showcase work by new musicians (Thad Jones and Paul Bley made their first recordings on the label) only two dozen or so albums were issued before the company was wound up in 1957.
A 12CD set of those Debut recordings featuring Mingus (the majority) was issued by Fantasy Records in 1992.

 Metroactive Music | Debut Records
DEBUT RECORDS was one of the first record labels owned by musicians--and not just any musicians, but jazz legends bassist Charlie Mingus and drummer Max Roach, who established Debut in 1952.
Some of the groups Debut recorded featured unusual instrumentation, such as one containing four trombones (including J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding) and a rhythm section, and a Miles Davis quintet that used a trombonist (Britt Woodman) and a vibist (Teddy Charles) instead of a saxophonist and a pianist.
On the basis of his only two recordings, both cut for Debut, a trio and unaccompanied solo date on which he was the leader, and as a sideman with Thad Jones, I'd call him a great musician.
