As Decatur County was a part of Perry County until the organization in November, 1845, the records of the county to that date were a record of Perry County and the destruction of nearly all since that date up to 1869 renders a review of the courts impossible.
The principal church denominations in Decatur County are the Methodist Episcopal South, the Missionary Baptist and the Cumberland Presbyterian.
The Methodists of this County belong to the Decaturville Circuit and the Jackson District and the Memphis Conference.

The Decatur County Coon Hunters had staged a benefit hunt the two previous years for the American Cancer Crusade, but this year they had decided the proceeds should go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
They approached the Decatur County Jaycette to help run the concessions, and thus the beginning of a beautiful relationship that has grown to include everyone in the entire county.
The early days were hard as the facilities were crude compared to the Decatur County Fairgrounds building, which now houses the event.

The city of Parsons, Tennessee, proposes to construct a new 50- by 50-foot concrete water intake structure located at Tennessee River mile (TRM) 136 and a 6.1–mile, 24-inch water distribution pipeline in Decatur County, Tennessee, between the Parsons Water Treatment Plant (PWTP) and the proposed intake structure.
Surveys conducted by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency indicated “no adverse impacts would occur to the gray bats (Myotis grisescens),” and neither of the mussel species (orange foot pimpleback, Plethobasus cooperianus; ring pink, Obovaria retusa) were located during surveys in the area of the proposed intake structure.
The aquatic fauna in the Tennessee River, however, would not be significantly affected by the withdrawal of up to 7 million gallons per day (MGD) of water through the proposed intake structure.

Parsons Cemetery, third or fourth largest cemetery in Decatur County, is bounded by Fourth Street, Perryville Road, Fifth Street, and Carolina Avenue.
