Deception Point, being the third I've read of Dan Brown's novels has by far been my favorite of the three.
Deception Point is a typical Dan Brown novel, with decent characters and a decent, albeit far-fetched, plot.
One of the more implausible elements of his plot is the presidential debate between the challenging party's presidential candidate and the incumbent party's presidential chief of staff.

Deception Point was a very good book it kept me very gripped but I guessed who the bad guy was quarter of the way into the book.
I had read it some time before it was made into a film and thoroughly enjoyed it so when Deception Point was offered to me I borrowed it and stuck it in the suitcase.
Deception Point is a good book with a good story line.

Deception Point is a lot like The Da Vinci Code, the biggest difference is probably that the big established “evil” empire isn’t the Vatican - it’s NASA.
The plot in Deception Point was interesting, now doubt about that.
But as I got to the last page of the book, I found myself thinking the exact same thing as I did when I finished The Da Vinci Code: I was just glad it was over.

Mr Brown's description of the metorite in this book is pretty well done and the characters are all very strong.
After The Da Vinci Code, I read Angels and Demons which I thought was just as good if not better.
Dan Brown writes wonderful books, but I have found it quite simple to predict the endings of Deception Point, Angels and Demons, and The Da Vinci Code nearly half-way through the novels.

It seems to follow a pattern similar to other Dan Brown books - very simply put, a gorgeous specialist (female) uncovers secret, dark forces move in, handsome specialist (male) enters, plot thickens, twists and turns, good guys win and the two become one.
But it's not negative so don't let that put you off, it's a good read (I couldn't help but drawing parallells to Interface by Neal Stephenson) and is indeed difficult to put down at times.
And Dan Brown's admirable research behind Deception Point raises some serious questions.
