A decimetre (symbol: dm, American spelling: decimeter) is a measurement of distance equal to ten centimetres or 1/10 metre.
Cubic decimetres are a common measurement of volume, equal to 1 litre, which is often used in chemistry and other sciences, for example when specifying molarity.

Sub-meter, decimeter and sub-centimeter are common specifications in the GPS industry but are often misunderstood.
Decimeter accuracy will establish positions within 10 centimeters whereas decimeter-level accuracy may only be capable of achieving an accuracy of several decimeters.
Decimeter products generally rely on a weaker portion of the GPS signal and therefore require a more rigorous procedure and better field conditions than other accuracy specifications.

Berge, Glenn LeRoy (1965-04-30) An interferometric study of Jupiter's decimeter radio emission. ...
An interferometric study of the decimeter radio emission from the planet Jupiter has recently been carried out at the Owens Valley Radio Observatory.
The visibility functions obtained are consistent with earlier measurements, which gave the polar and equatorial dimensions as one and three planetary diameters respectively, but they are more complete and extend to larger baselines.
The observations are consistent with a symmetrical synchrotron emission source having the polarization properties one would expect with a dipole magnetic field.

The house of Fratelli Piana in Italy calculated from measurements that there were 860 cells per square decimeter; another house in Italy measured comb from three different colonies and found that there was a considerable variation in the size of cells, namely 813, 807 and 854 cells per square decimeter.
He arrived at the conclusion that foundation having 700 cells per square decimeter gave a bee which was superior in all its measurements to those reared in combs built from the smaller sizes.
Noticing the difference in size of the bees from a swarm placed on foundation and the bees of the parent stock reared in natural comb, Pincot came to the conclusion that this phenomenon was due to the natural cells being larger than those drawn from the foundation and actual measurements confirmed his theory.

 kilogram
Conceptually, it was to be the mass of a cubic decimeter of water at water's maximum density.
After corrections were made for changes in size due to thermal expansion, the cylinder's volume was calculated to be 11.28 cubic decimeters at 0°C. To weigh the cylinder, special weights were made of brass of the same density as the brass of the cylinder, to compensate for the buoyancy in air of the weights.
After months of subtle and precise work, the researchers concluded that the mass of a cubic decimeter of water at its maximum density was 99.92072% of the mass of the provisional kilogram.

Knot density is measured in the imperial system in square inch and in the metric system in square decimeter.
Every decimeter is equal to 10 centimeters and approximately 4 inches.
Knot density is measured by counting the number of knots per linear inch or decimeter along the warp and weft (visible on the backside of the rug) and multiplying the two numbers.

 liter (litre)
In SI, a special name for the cubic decimeter, and thus a unit of capacity.
However, the mass of the kilogram is actually defined by the mass of the platinum prototype, which was based on an 18th century determination of the mass of a cubic decimeter of water.
In 1964 the 12th CGPM (Resolution 6) abrogated the 1901 definition and declared “that the word ‘liter’ may be used as a special name for the cubic decimeter,” and recommended that it not be used to present the results of high accuracy volume measurements.

VueStar provides GPS navigation enhanced to decimeter accuracy by the globally available StarFire™ Network, in a small convenient form-factor.
Eliminating the range limitations of terrestrial communication links as well as the dependency on post-processing recorded data using ground based reference stations, VueStar is the only system of its kind providing a reliable cost-effective solution for aerial surveyors.
"NavCom's navigation solution meets the decimeter level accuracy needed for positioning airborne Interferometric SAR sensors and is comparable with the post-processed differential solution with reference to a ground based station located 100 to 200 km away," said Dr. Mushtaq Hussain, professor of geomatic engineering, California State University, Fresno.

A square decimeter can be measured either with a perfect square or by a rhombus method.
By trying to approximate the old USA standard of 856 and the old world (European Mainland) standard of 800 cell sizes to the square decimeter many beekeepers have used foundation bases geared to a square decimeter using square measurements, rather than a square decimeter using rhombus measurements.
Notice that if one is referring to a small fl bee of Europe at sea level then the 4.66mm would be the very smallest sizing reported by Wedmore and if the same were found in Belgium at sea level would show why some beekeepers believed the small fl bees of Europe were quite small indeed.

It will be shown how all this can be applied to almost any area of terrain or geologic interest (if you can see it and get within at least 500m of it you can map it, and with some technology, to 1000m).
These methods will be applied to specific locations, going into the field and converting interpreted photomosaics for example to accurate (centimeter to decimeter), 3D quantitative models consisting of laser mapped digital terrain and features (contacts, faults etc.), integrated with a photorealistic surface from oblique photography draped onto the terrain.
All data will be globally positioned and geometrically accurate at centimeters to decimeters depending on the technology applied and the characteristics of the locations.
