  CD Baby: DECIPHER MACHINE: Rings
The collection of music found on the "Rings" is the result of the creative labor and the belief that there is someone who could appreciate this kind of music.
This is the Decipher Machine's 1st professionally manufactured CD release (not CD-R) with over 50 minutes of unique techno music.
"Rings" is a 100% electronic and instrumental album, which seems like moving in between the edge of EBM and techno styles.

BTW the dialogues were there to understand the CONCEPT of the album, and just 222 and one in the middle of the song (between love and fire) and the other one at the end of BLIND PAIN so I dont think that make the album the worst...
Decipher and Prison of Desire are their greatest works in my opinion, with Exordium falling short mainly because of being a mini-album and the last song being entirely too forgettable.
P.S. The reason why I sound so harsh is because their first two albums were some of the best metal I've heard and the latter seem to be going more and more in the direction of rock with a bit of metal spicing.

Decipher, the second album from the Dutch band After Forever, is nothing short of breathtaking.
I recommend this album to first-timers, especially to those who have a problem with cookie monsters and would prefer a milder male growler to their everyday gothic metal.
Decipher is their second album and a third, Excordium, is due out shortly.

Too bad, though, the lyrics for this album aren't here, especially for a few songs where the words are tough to decipher.
Ann and Nancy Wilson are best-known as lead singers of the rock band Heart, Linda Ronstadt had a ton of country-rock hits in the 1970s; and the P-Funk All-Stars is an offshoot of funkmeister Clinton's (George, not Bill) 1970s band Parliament-Funkadelic.
The album's suggested retail price is about $18, although you can order "The Yellow Album" from the amazon.com Web site for $12.99 plus shipping for the compact disc.

Get Ready to ROCK! Review of CD album by Dutch Gothic metal band Epica called We Will Take You With Us
Epica’s debut album ‘The Phantom Agony’ was released in June 2003 and its entry in the Dutch charts quickly established the band as one of the rising stars of the Dutch metal scene.
This album is the product of those sessions, at which the full band performed 6 tracks from ‘The Phantom Agony’ and a further 3 songs in acoustic format.
In one sense it is a live album, but it is a live album performed in a studio and without an audience.

Now has come the time for them to consolidate their position in the genre...and with the release of "Decipher" they have pulled off that task successfully.
"Decipher" shows a more mature band that has grown with regard to their ability to write songs.
The album closes off with the exquisite "Forlorn Hope", a powerful track about the Middle Eastern problem, including a haunting spoken sample.

The missing back cover may indicate that additional pages and envelopes were also lost prior to 1984 when the album came into the collection of the National Postal Museum.
With the envelope pasted into the album, the correctly decoded address was written on the reverse page, like the answers to a trivia game.

And Decipher is impressive in its own way, but it's not quite as growl-heavy as its predecessor and not nearly as powerful or consistent.
Decipher opens with "Ex Cathedra: Ouverture," a sophisticated two-minute introduction heavy on the violins, and showcasing both male and female choirs.
However, the album's second half suffers slightly, and there are a few songs that I won't hesitate to refer to as filler ("Imperfect Tenses" is a cheesy, pseudo-Broadway sobfest that should have never, ever happened).

In summary, this is a very dense, twisting, difficult to decipher album, based on a dense, twisting, difficult to decipher story.
But if you're feeling adventurous and are the type who likes an album that requires the listener to play it several times and work to dig out its secrets, then this disc presents a worthwhile challenge.
A concept album based around a science fiction story by MTG member James Grigsby, Strange Attractors is another prime sampling of the aggressive, all-out RIO performed by this group.

Yet for all the album’s consistent quality it must be said that it could use a jolt of that old punk energy at times.
Unfortunately, though the album is chock full of loud, anthemic rockers and contains a bevy of well-crafted soft rock compositions (a la “Walking After You”), the album’s sequencing and conception are seriously flawed.
Alas, some albums add up to more than the sum of their individual parts, some add up to less (which is why track-by-track album reviews don’t work), and In Your Honour is the latter case, strong though many of its individual songs are.

 After Forever at Musical Discoveries
The album begins its conclusion with the choral introduction to "Yield to Temptation" (Part III of 'The Embrace that Smothers' suite) but the listener is quickly reminded of the recording's metal edges with dynamic guitar and grunting style vocals.
After Forever's second album Decipher (Transmission Records TM-029, 2001) follows amply in the footsteps of last year's "Prisoner Of Desire." Fronted by even more of Floor Jansen's stunning lead vocals, the eleven-track "Decipher" is substantially more symphonic with the addition of a string section and choir to their lineup.
Sharp contrasts between Floor's vocals and the harder edged grunts are evident throughout the album; similar contrasts between the album's softest ballad-style tracks and metal-edged rockers exist.

Beneath, the first proper song on the album, falls into the first category: the use of breaks, the guitars and bass that provide the body and the keys and vocals that provide the melody, and the use of strings are characteristics strongly reminiscent of the Decipher album.
The band are already well known in their homeland, so I imagine that this EP has dual purposes; to tide their loyal fanbase over until the next full length album, and to serve as a ‘taster’ to those yet to discover the band.
I am very fond of the first two albums by After Forever mainly because of the music, but next to that I am proud that a Dutch band is able to make such excellent progmetal/gothic music.

After Forever's second album, 2001's Decipher, saw the Dutch sextet making great strides toward developing a distinctive and personal sound, and it vaulted them to the very forefront of Europe's operatic metal scene to boot.
And nowhere is her presence more commanding than on the dazzling ballad "Imperfect Tenses," which for once completely ignores the heavy metal template to offer a spine-tingling duet between Jansen and tenor Rein Kolpa.
Needless to say, it's no small challenge coalescing so many different styles into a sensible whole, and this is what makes both Decipher and After Forever so impressive and highly recommended.
