Ptolemy III Euergetes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ptolemy III Euergetes had put up the first of the Rosetta Stone series, the bilingual inscriptions on massive stone blocks in three writing systems.
Ptolemy III's stone stela is the Canopus Stone of 238 B.C.E. His son, Ptolemy IV, is responsible for the Memphis Stele, or Memphis Stone, the second in the series, bearing the Decree of Memphis, about 218 B.C.E. The famous Rosetta Stone is the third, erected by Ptolemy V, in 196 BC.
But two of its 26 lines of hieroglyphs decree the use of a leap day added to the Egyptian calendar of 365 days, and the associated changes in festivals.

 Memphis
It began as inbw-hdj, or "white walls," perhaps reflecting the appearance of its fortified residence, which was actually a portion of its area, probably situated somewhere near the modern town of Abusir, in the valley to the east of the northernmost section of the Saqqara necropolis.
Memphis served as administrative capital with Thebes and Itjtawy during at least part of the New Kingdom, during the Late Period, with Alexandria during the Ptolemaic period, and remained important politically and religiously until Emperor Theodosius I, 379-95 ACE, decreed that Christianity should be the religion of the Roman Empire.
But the actual demise of Memphis probably occurred with the invasion of the Muslim conquerors in 641 when they established their new capital not at Memphis, but a short distance north of the city at Fustat, which is now a part of Cairo called Old Cairo, or Coptic Cairo.

Memphis Planned Parenthood, Inc., ("MPP") petitioned the district court for a preliminary injunction preventing the State of Tennessee from enforcing its Parental Consent for Abortion by Minors Act ("Consent Act" or "Act").
Butler specifically found that the twenty-four hour appeals process was unduly burdensome in that the time constraint will prevent many minors from lodging the appeal or it will force them to act so rashly that their parents will discover their plans.
Declarations from Terri Wright Lloyd, Lisa Thomas, and Connie Simpson, directors at clinics in Memphis and Knoxville, further reinforced the logistical impracticalities imposed by the twenty-four hour appeal process and the bypass process in general.

This is the first analysis of the grammar of demotic Egyptian as found in the Canopus decree of 238 BC, the Raphia decree of 217 BC, the Memphis (Rosetta) decree of 196 BC, and the two Philae decrees of 186 and 184 BC.
These texts, which have been famous since the discovery of the Rosetta Stone in 1799 and the subsequent decipherment of Ancient Egyptian, were promulgated in Egyptian and Greek by annual synods of the Egyptian priesthood, and were intended to express gratitude for royal patronage and to regulate the royal temple cults.
The discussion compares problematic passages with the parallel Greek and hieroglyphic versions and systematically considers theoretical issues underlying the analysis and arrangement of the material, including the distinction between lexical and grammatical elements (such as articles, verbal auxiliaries, and 'converters') on which the syntax of demotic is mainly based.

When the royal couple abandoned the "aten" forms of their name during year two of the king's reign, it signaled the formal resurgence of Amun, away from the worship of Aten, and the traditional pantheon.
