Dedham is a town in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the county seat of Norfolk County, Massachusetts.
On the northwest it is bordered by Needham, on the southwest by Westwood and on the southeast by Canton.
Dedham's population is spread out with 22.2% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 31.1% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.6% who were 65 years of age or older.

The route from Dedham to Stratford St. Mary, along Mill Street and over Dedham bridge, may have replaced an earlier one by a ford at the northernmost bend of the Stour.
Dedham Gas, Light, Coke and Coal Co. was established in 1861 with 16 subscribers; all but one from Dedham.

Dedham was spared the horrors of attack during King Philip’s War in 1675076.
In 1793, Dedham was selected as the shire town for the new County of Norfolk, and an influx of lawyers, politicians, and people on county business forced the town to abandon its traditional insularity and its habitual distrust of newcomers.
New taverns were established in Dedham, to provide for the wants of the traveler, but more particularly to provide way stations and relay points for the new stage lines that the turnpike had suddenly made feasible.
