		Today, Deep Ellum is struggling because of the economic downturn since 2001 and now has a growing crime problem, but remains a major attraction for the City of Dallas, as evidenced by an increase in chain stores and restaurants.
		By 1991 Deep Ellum had 57 (Gymnastic apparatus consisting of two parallel wooden bars supported on uprights) bars and (A spot that is open late at night and that provides entertainment (as singers or dancers) as well as dancing and food and drink) nightclubs.

		Deep Ellum is an entertainment and arts district on Elm Street east of downtown Dallas in Dallas County.
		The area was called Deep Elm or, as early residents pronounced it, "Deep Ellum." Because of the proximity of the railroad it was also called Central Track.
