In an exclusive interview to The Hindu, one of the members of the delegation, Deepak Obhrai, said he was impressed by the Indian partners and the support from the Madhya Pradesh Government when it came to implementing the CIDA project.
During their visit to a village to see how democracy was working at the grassroots level, it was encouraging to see that people were enthused about local democracy and the steps that had been taken to strengthen the panchayat raj system in the rural areas, he said.
Obhrai, who was part of a Canadian trade mission wanting to do business with India earlier this year, said that historically relations between India and Canada had been strong except for the hiccups that came following the nuclear explosions leading to a freezing of relations.
