Deer Isle, in Hancock County, is a group of three islands lying between the northern part of Isle nu Haute Bay and Brooklin and Sedgewick on the mainland.
Deer Isle was incorporated in 1789, being the fourth town in the county.
The number of Deer Islanders in the service of the Union during the war of the Rebellion was, soldiers and sailors, 386, and of these 55 were lost.
