Tarostar - regarding your comment about Gold Tone being a US company who assemble their banjos with foreign parts: One important thing to note is that those parts, while manufactured overseas (for economical reasons), are made to Gold Tone's specifications.
Deering has a different philosophy: the parts for the Goodtime were designed by Greg Deering, and made by US companies.

Fairbanks & Vega banjos, Dating & Identifying
In the mid-1980s, The Deering Banjo Company purchased the Vega name and rights from Galaxy and brought this venerable banjo name back to the US and their Spring Valley, CA factory.
Vega offered banjos in many sizes, so it stands to reason the 28 flanges would predate the 4 pieces, since they could go on a greater variety of sizes.

News - Microsoft planning Diddy Kong Pilot IP switch? // Game Boy Advance /// Eurogamer
Sony doesn't seem to think Game Boy Advance is a thread to PSP, with SCEE president Chris Deering recently describing the company's planned portable as "synergistic and dynamically collaborative with Game Boy", and it seems Microsoft has a place in its heart for Nintendo's diminutive handheld and its overpriced software, too.
Diddy Kong Pilot was one title Rare was working on before Microsoft stepped in, and CandVG reports that according to the official US Patent and Trademark site, Microsoft registered the name "Banjo Pilot" on July 3rd this year, suggesting that Nintendo's intellectual property has gone out of the window in favour of its own.
Microsoft is of course refusing to comment on this, but September's X03 might be the time to announce it, and Rare's website currently makes reference to a new publishing deal.
