Riverside Township borders Delanco Township and Delran Township.
In the township the population was spread out with 25.0% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 33.4% from 25 to 44, 19.4% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who were 65 years of age or older.
In July, 2006 a controversial ordinance was passed by the township committee trying to handle the large amount of immigrants, primarily illegally from Brazil, that have moved into the township.

The Columns, 531 Delaware Avenue, Delanco, NJ The 1992 Designer Show house was appropriately, the home of the hospital's original benefactor and founder, Theophilus Zurbrugg.
Zurbrugg left a quarter of a million dollar endowment to fund a hospital, perhaps because his wife Lizette was a former nurse or because he had suffered a stroke in 1908.
Delanco, like many of its sister communities along the Delaware, came into being in the mid 1800's as a summer resort for well-to-do Philadelphians who moved upriver to escape the heat of the city.

The owners, 531 Delaware Inc., have defaulted on a loan from the New Jersey Economic Development Author-ity, which is "poised to foreclose on the property," according to Josephson's letter.
Josephson contends the youth program is an allowed use under an existing approval granted by the township in 1999 for a "residential care facility." That approval did not specify the age of the facility's occupants.
