In the county, the population was spread out with 24.80% under the age of 18, 8.90% from 18 to 24, 28.80% from 25 to 44, 21.90% from 45 to 64, and 15.60% who were 65 years of age or older.
Delaware County is bisected north to south by Blue Route Interstate 476, which connects I-76 in the extreme northern corner of the county to I-95, which parallels the Delaware River along the southeastern edge of the county.
Delaware County is home to SEPTA's 69th Street Terminal in Upper Darby, and is served by the Norristown High Speed Line, two Red Arrow trolley lines (Routes 101 and 102), four Regional Rail Lines (the R1, R2, R3 and R5), and a host of bus routes.

Springfield Township, or simply Springfield, is a township and a Census Designated Place in Delaware County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.
First settled before the year 1700 by Quakers who arrived in Pennsylvania with William Penn, Springfield was first recognized as a governmental entity in 1686.
The Springfield Mall is one of only three enclosed shopping malls in all of Delaware County, Pennsylvania and is the only such establishment located within one mile of an Interstate highway: I-476.

The county has a rolling surface averaging 450` A.T., but drops to a terrace of 200` A.T., and then to the mud flats of the Delaware.
Patches of old Bryn Mawrgravel remain in various townships on the divides at 400` A.T. Patches and streaks of brick-clay remain on the terrace, and are extensively wrought.
But as the genera dip (as shown along the Schuylkill River) is north or north-westward, carrying the Philadelphia schists under the Manayunk schists, and these again under the Chestnut Hill schists, it is hard to understand why all three should not be regarded as descending beneath the isolated areas of "older" hornblendic gneiss.
