In nearly every township are to be found mounds and fortifications of various descriptions, which, though fast becoming obliterated, still remain to attest the activity of a people whose character and history are shrouded in the oblivion of the past.
Like the one farther down the river, before mentioned as being built at the intersection of a ravine with the river, this one is likewise located between two ravines at the point of their intersection, about half a mile from the river, and could have been intended for no other purpose than that of defense.

The northern and eastern portions of Union County were originally covered with forests, but they proved to be very fertile when cleared for agriculture.
Union County is drained by streams which flow in a southeasterly direction to empty into the Scioto River.

According to state law, every township trustee is responsible for care and upkeep of abandoned cemeteries within the township's borders.
In Center Township (Delaware County) there are currently three cemeteries which the trustee maintains: Collins Cemetery on the West side of Muncie, Blowers Cemetery which is located near the Crest View Golf Course in South Central Muncie, and Parker-Moore Cemetery located just off Memorial Ave.

Both cities go into Delaware, but are mostly Franklin County cities, so I further hypothesize that those cities just have Franklin County make the signs, and then use them everywhere in their borders, even if they extend outside of Franklin County.
For some reason, the road is double signed, with one sign indicating the county route number, and the other the township route number...since the numbers are the same, all I can guess is that they are multiplexed in some way, but I'll have to check my Delaware county map.
