Isabela is the biggest (10,665 sq.km.) and most populous (1,277,000) province in the Cagayan Valley, and comprises one city and thirty-six towns, of which Ilagan is the capital.
The Cagayan River runs through the central plains, which are separated from the coast by the Sierra Madre Mountains.

DELFIN ALBANO, Isabela – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo today announced the release of another P18 million for the relief and rehabilitation of the province of Isabela which has incurred some P1 billion worth of damaged agricultural crops and infrastructure projects brought about by typhoon "Harurot".
In remarks during a visit here, the President said that the amount is in addition to the P35 million she ordered released when she last visited Isabela in the aftermath of the typhoon last July.
From Delfin Albano, the President also visited Ilagan and Echague in the province of Isabela wherein she handed over a P5 million check to Conngressman Faustino Dy III for medicines and medical equipment for the Ilagan District Hospital.

 Isabela police on alert for May 12 special poll - May 10, 2003
DELFIN ALBANO, Isabela -- Police officials placed Isabela on red alert and sent more policemen to seven towns and Santiago City to defuse tension over special elections to be held May 12 to fill up the vacancy left by the late Congressman Antonio Abaya.
Isabela provincial police director Nelson Nario said the province-wide alert would prepare the policemen for the voting and canvassing.
He said he also sent soldiers from the Army's Fifth Infantry Division, based in Gamu town in Isabela, to help policemen keep the peace in the towns of Echague, Ramon, San Isidro, San Agustin, Jones, Dinapigue, Cordon and Santiago City.

The National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) identified the fatalities as Francisco Lumanog, 33, of Naguilian, Isabela; Nelson Agriam, 35, and Ernesto Guting, 23, both of Delfin Albano, Isabela; Loreto Ramos of Reina Mercedes, Isabela; two-year-old Elmer Celso of Candaba, Pampanga, and Napoleon Ciscar, 50, of Madella, Quirino.
The victims either died from drowning or hit by fallen trees.
