Delta Dreamflight (June 23, 1989–January 1, 1996) was an attraction located in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom inside the Walt Disney World Resort, and was sponsored by Delta Air Lines.
Dreamflight was a pop-up book version of the history of flight using simplistic sets, some Audio-Animatronics and projection effects.
Delta sponsored the ride upon its opening in 1989 until the end of 1995.

Dreamflight, (or more properly Delta Dreamflight) at The Magic Kingdom, was sponsored by Delta Airlines, and replaced Delta's earlier If You Could Fly, and the earlier still, If You Had Wings attraction, sponsored by Eastern Airlines in June 1989.
The loading area was through a rainbow colored jetway, into the main door of a Delta Airlines Jet, and had a large painted mural of a classic 1930s airport, complete with aircratf painted in the old Delta livery.
Dreamflight was eventually refurbished and transformd into TakeFlight, also sponsored by Delta, which was in turn closed during 1998 following Delta's loss as a sponsor on 1st January 1996.

If You Had Wings was originally sponsored by Eastern Airlines, and later became Delta's "Dreamflight." Delta, my favorite airline, has been scroll-fodder for the cable news networks all this week with the roll-out of their fare restructuring.
Delta has given me perks and incentives I really don't deserve, including Silver Medallion status for 2005 and a trial Crown Room Club membership.
Delta expects to make up in volume what they lose in revenue initially.

Ah, yes, Dreamflight: the only attraction you could ride constantly nonstop at 2 in the afternoon on a Christmas day when half no other parks are open and half the rides on MK are shut down.
Delta Dreamflight, which opened on June 26, 1989.
Delta stopped sponsoring the ride as of January 1, 1996, and you all know the rest.

During the popular 10 minute attraction guests would be transported in small vehicles past various 2d and 3d dioramas, and film clips, showing areas of the world serviced by the Eastern Airlines sponsor.
Eastern Airlines ended their sponsorship in early 1986 and were replaced by Delta as the official Walt Disney World airline, and with the loss in sponsorship the attraction closed on June 1st 1987, to reopen under the Delta sponsorship banner as If You Could Fly.
This was later replaced by Delta DreamFlight (or just DreamFlight) still with Delta's sponsorship, through Take Flight, which was in turn closed to be replaced by Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.

Then when Eastern was gone, they had a ride called Delta's Dreamflight.
It was shut down when Delta came on board and the show was changed (the track remained the same--as it is even today with Buzz).
I know other rides are sponsored, but Delta seemed like the focal point of the whole experience.

He has a downloadable video of "Dreamflight" that is almost perfect...

It all started with Delta's particpation in the opening of Typhoon Lagoon and the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park in 1989, along with the continuation of The Magic Kingdom's Delta Dreamflight attraction.
The corporate alliance contract also provided for cross marketing in advertisements featuring Delta as "The Offical Airline of Disneyland and Walt Disney World" and a huge corportate contract making (then) Delta the primary carrier for employees of The Walt Disney Company.
After Frank's death the contract was not renewed upon expiration, and United became the primary corporate air carrier for Disney, under condition of United adding 2 daily LAX-MCO-LAX non-stops to the system (only connecting flights existed to MCO on United prior to that).

So my vote is to add Dreamflight back into the park (or any park for that matter) somewhere else!
It was a throwback to the old World Fair rides developed by Old Disney that unfortunately New Disney is trying to do away with.
The spinning tunnle is the only thing left over from the dreamflight.

If You Had Wings was rechristened If You Could Fly in 1987 when Eastern Airlines' sponsorship ended and Delta took over.
Then in 1989 the Imagineers reworked the attraction into Delta Dreamflight.
They include the loss of Delta Dreamflight, which continued for a while as "Take Flight" after it lost its sponsor Delta Airlines in 1996.

Branding isn’t new at theme parks, Disney has done it for years.
I am one of the few people with fond memories of the old Delta Dreamflight ride at Disneyworld for instance not to mention the Disney brand itself which isn’t used sparingly.
I think kids are pretty bright and can seperate the brands from the fun pretty easily and from the sound of it the branding at this park is so heavy handed that it will help the kids get wise up quickly.

When they changed airlines (from Eastern to Delta, I believe) it went from "If You Had Wings"; to "If You Could Fly".
All they did was change the music, but it sucked after that.
Then they totally gutted it and made "Delta Dreamflight" (later just "Dreamflight"), which was okay, but it didn't have the same great cheesiness as "If You Had Wings";.

Bringing back Dreamflight would definitely be an improvement over Buzz, IMHO.
I never did dreamflight, but on behalf of my son, taking out Buzz would destroy him!
He LOVES this ride and is his fav at the MK.

Disney will take the latest net charge, which totals 83 mln usd, to write off its 114 mln usd investment in the leases with United Airlines which it does not expect to recover given the troubled airline's bankruptcy filing -- the largest in aviation history.

It's funny this thread is here, I was going through my pictures this weekend and found some of Horizons and Delta's Dream Flight.
After they dropped sponsorship, it briefly became If You Could Fly, then Delta picked up the sponsorship and it became Delta Dreamflight.
