  Rana
Also known as Delta Eridani, Rana (the "frog") is located less than 29.5 light-years (ly) away in the north central part (03:43:14.90-09:45:48.22, ICRS 2000.0) of Constellation Eridanus, the River.
Delta Eridani is a orange-red subgiant (K0 IVe) that has about 2.3 to 2.7 times Sol's diameter and about 2.8 times its luminosity.
Since Delta Eridani has become a subgiant, it is possible that any planet that held Earth-like conditions earlier in the system's past has now become too hot to support Earth-type life, but that a colder Mars-type planet has become more Earth-like.

Delta Eridani - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Delta Eridani (δ Eri / δ Eridani) is a 3.54 magnitude star in the constellation of Eridanus.
This star is relatively near to the Sun, at a measured distance of about 29 light years.
The name Rana means "the frog" in Latin, and was apparently transferred in the 20th century from another star, Deneb Kaitos, which was also called "Rana Secunda", or second frog.

 Epsilon Eridani
Epsilon Eridani is a chromospherically active star, whose spectral line shapes, magnetic field, and photospheric temperature vary much more over time than most main sequence stars (Gray and Baliunas, 1995).
That planetary candidate appeared to have less than five (perhaps three) times Jupiter's mass and to be orbiting at about 7.7 AU (between the orbits of Jupiter and Saturn in the Solar System) out from the star in an elliptical orbit (e= 0.5) with a period of about 25 years.
The distance from Epsilon Eridani where an Earth-type rocky planet may have liquid water on its surface may have to be between 0.47 and 0.91 AU (Jones and Sleep, 2003) -- between the orbital distances of Mercury and Earth in the Solar System.

It turns out that the average level of magnetic activity inferred from the H and K absorptions relates to a star's age; young stars tend to be more active than old ones (Sky and Telescope: December 1990, page 589).

Delta Rana is a star system (also known as the Rana system) of planets, not far from the ancient sphere of influence of the now-extinct Husnock race.
The real star Rana, also known as Delta Eridani, seems to be the basis of this system, although the name "Delta Rana system" is a new combination of the two nomenclatures.
Rana is spectral class K0, and is located about 29.4 light years from Earth.

 ChView - GLOSSARY & FORMULAS
Many such stars (Mira, semi-regular, Cepheids, RR Lyrae, RV Tauri, Beta Canis Majoris or Beta Cephei, Alpha Cygni and irregular types) are evolving off the main sequence, and thus include many subgiant, giant, and supergiant stars that are exhausting their core supply of hydrogen and fusing heavier elements in concentric gaseous shells.
Delta Scuti type (which have small amplitudes and periods from 0.02 to 0.25 of a day) are young A and F stars, and many are spectroscopic binaries; subdwarfs of this type are call SX Phoenicis stars.
Exhibiting small amplitudes, variations in brightness may be due to non-uniform surface brightness, fast rotation and great chromospheric activity, and binaries where one companion is rapidly rotating and large (FGK giant or subgiant) or where the stars are very close and gravitationally distorted (ellipsoidal variables).
