A highway, the Alaska Highway, was built to connect an existing road in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada with the Richardson Highway in Alaska, a distance of 2290 km (1423 miles).
Delta Junction is mostly sunny in the summer and split between clear and overcast days in the winter.
Delta Junction was known as the "Windy City" and "Little Chicago" by many soldiers on Fort Greely, a reference to Chicago in the lower 48 United States.

he Sullivan Roadhouse, a historical museum that was built in 1905 and was an important stop on the trail between Valdez and Fairbanks, now exists because it wound up on Fort Greely, near Delta.
The soldiers took care of the building by adding a metal roof.
