DKE's heraldic colours are azure (blue), or (gold), and gules (crimson) and its flag is a triband of those colours with a left-facing rampant lion in the middle.
DKE is inextricably linked to the history of the United States of America, as its members have included five of forty-three Presidents of the United States: Rutherford B. Hayes, Theodore Roosevelt, Gerald Ford, George H. Bush, and George W. Bush.
DKE is the fourth fraternity at the prestigious institution.
DKE's strategic planning began two years ago with an alumni survey more than 1,000 men completed.
The effort resulted in an analysis of DKE's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats; and at its last board meeting, the DKE International board of directors approved the appointment of several strategic committees, each with a distinct charge, and each now forming.

(Alpha Delta Phi had remained on campus less than a year in 1850, and Mu was to exist another ten years before the next fraternity was chartered—during this period there were intensive efforts made by the school to have the chapter eliminated.) Mu maintains a separate structure for meetings—the Mu Temple.
Inactive from 1885 to 1893, the chapter was revived as DeltaDelta chapter at the new University of Chicago, which had opened the previous year.
After a decade of effort to develop the chapter, and in the face of financial, rushing and operational difficulties, the chapter's charter was withdrawn by the DKE Board in 1986.

The open motto, "Kerothen Philoi Aei" or "Friends from the Heart, Forever" in translation--was adopted, the DKE pin was designed, showing a DKE on a scroll, upon a diamond shape bearing a star in each corner, and the secret grip was carefully concocted.
On Tuesday morning on the front lawn of the DeltaKappaEpsilon (DKE) house, approximately 300 students and several members of the media gathered to participate in the Freedom of Association: the Coalition for Truth (F.A.C.T.) Rally.
