		It was released twice for Swell Records in 1994 and re-released in 1995 for Elektra Records.

		Primarily recorded at two sessions in late 1962, early in the life of what came to be known as the classic John Coltrane Quartet, Ballads is one of the most unusual albums in the Coltrane discography.
		At the time, Coltrane was best known for the adventurousness and intensity of his music but he had a tender side as well, and Ballads was the first album to put the lyrical aspect of his playing in the spotlight.

	Arhoolie Records
		Recorded live between 1982-1988, this is classic, hard core, bluegrass featuring hair-raising, paint-peeling, barn-burning vocals by one of the greatest enor singers in the history of Bluegrass Music.
		These are her first recordings from 1964 (originally on Arhoolie LP 4002) with eight bonus tracks featuring several blues songs and an old ballad, "Lady Margaret," where Alice plays the banjo.
		Recorded in Paris in a trio setting (with Jacques Avenel on bass and George Brown on drums), the 13 tracks are a mix of original Simmons compositions as well as standards.
