Demand Factor   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
The demand factor is defined as the ratio of the maximum demand of a system (or part of a system) to the total connected load for that part being considered.
The demand factor is always equal to or less than one.
The "connected load" would be reduced by the appropriate demand factor and diversity factor when sizing the service entrance conductors.

  Power and Voltage Requirements
Knowledge of the maximum demand of groups of loads is of great importance because it is the group maximum demand that determines the sizes of conductors and apparatus throughout the electrical system.
Since the maximum demand is one of the factors determining the size of conductors, it is important that the demand factor be established as closely as possible.
Knowing the demand factors for various types of buildings and installations is also beneficial when existing facilities are rearranged because increased serving capacity is often not required, even though the connected load is greatly increased.

It is determined by applying the proper demand factor to each of the connected loads and a diversity factor[?] to the sum total.

Should I have regularly scheduled or on-demand clotting factor replacement therapy for hemophilia?
Clotting factor concentrates are not always effective because the body can develop antibodies called inhibitors, which destroy the newly introduced factor VIII or IX.
Clotting factor replacement therapy is a way to introduce missing or inadequate amounts of clotting factor VIII or IX components into your blood.
Recombinant clotting factors are produced in a lab (using recombinant DNA technology) and are not derived from donated blood.

More and more utilities are introducing power factor penalties (or kVA-based demand charges) into their rate structures, in part, to comply with provisions of the Clean Air Act and deregulation and to some extent in response to growing competition in a newly-deregulated power market.

Demand is measured over 15 or 30 minutes, so a small change for a few seconds will not change the demand.
I do not know what is meant by demand factor, but once you dimension the capacitors correctly, you should reduce your bill since the current incoming from the power source to the connection point of the capacitors will be reduced.
Their benefit is in reducing the power factor, but most utilities do not have a power factor charge (or it is very small).

The additional demand factors in the Summary of Estimated ORC Requirements table on the ORC spreadsheet are safety factors that account for uncertainty about potential sinks for oxygen.
These factors are used to increase the ORC dose by the specified multiplier and provide contingency to account for the many uncertainties inherent in subsurface investigations and in-situ remediation projects.
The inclusion of a safety factor/additional demand factor is a typical engineering design technique used to provide a conservative estimate for the amount of HRC necessary for subsurface systems that have a high degree of variability and are minimally sampled for chemical/hydrological parameters.

A firm's demand for inputs is often referred to as a derived demand.
So, the demand for inputs is derived from the demand for outputs.
This idea of derived demand may seem like just a matter of language but it turns out to be crucial in understanding how the demand for inputs arises and how factor demand changes when demand for outputs changes.
