In fact, Demandred actually expresses admiration for Rand’s cleansing plan at Shadar Logoth, though it should be noted that Demandred has attempted to steal Callandor from the Stone of Tear, and given a sa’angreal he would have destroyed Rand al’Thor long ago.
Demandred was a politician in the Age of Legends as well as a general; he could conceivably be acting alone and without a false identity.

Demandred's posing as a Saldean in the army: I think Demandred is probably a Saldean; his hawk-nosed profile fits the description of Saldean, and it's easier for him not to use mask of mirrors if he doesn't have to (Demandred doesn't seem like he'd take the risk of someone discovering it).

Demandred is one of the primary antagonists of the Wheel of Time fantasy series by Robert Jordan.
The theory intuitively fits: Taim knows weaves of the One Power that Rand does not; Taim is scornful of modern Aes Sedai (something all Forsaken are open about); both Demandred and Taim are second fiddle, are almost, to Rand al'Thor; and both have been seen to scheme against him.
Who (and where) Demandred is, and what Taim himself is up to, are thus open for question.
