Demilich (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Demilich is a death metal band from Finland, which formed in the early 1990s and consisted of vocalist/guitarist Antti Boman, guitarist Aki Hytonen, bassist Ville Koistenen and drummer Mikko Virnes.
The band is still active and touring, and will be releasing an LP called "em9t2ness of van2s1ing" in Spring 2006 under the label Morbid Thoughts Records.
Demilich will appear at the Maryland Deathfest, a two day festival, and eight other US shows (including New York City, Atlanta, Houston and Los Angeles) have also been announced at their official web pages.

Members of the crowd who were fond of one or another of the opening bands, adhering to the cognitive dissonance that supposes that bigger bands oppress smaller bands and that is the only reason smaller bands are openers and not headliners, stood back with disgruntled faces and drank $4 beers.
What distinguishes this band is their willingness to write passionate melodies and put them in songs that uphold all of the savagery and feral wisdom of heavy metal, and this came through in a mesmerizing forty-five minutes of complex but intuition-friendly music.

The first band we signed was, and I had properly registered the label in February of 1993, Demilich from Finland which was a death/grind thing.

Due to the number of bands on our roster we had divided the bands and I dealt with a number of bands and a couple of other guys were responsible for the other bands.

Demilich - Odd progressive death metal from Finland - EvBoard - Evanescence Forum
I highly doubt very many people have heard of this band, but I know there is a good amount of people who like death metal and "odd" music here.
The best words to describe the music of this Finnish quartet are probably "bizarre", "abstract", and "extra-terrestrial." Unlike many death metal bands they strive for atmosphere rather than heaviness, their guitar riffs are very unique, song titles are long and ridiculous, and vocals insanely low and "alien" sounding.
Their single full-length album "Nespithe" was released originally in 1993 on Necropolis, but the band never got any royalties from it and allow people to download Nespithe and numerous demos for free on their website (http://demilich.doesntexist.com/.)

The problem with the band in general is they seem to be influenced by a few genres of metal and incorporate that into songs that just go into too many directions.
A band like Averse Sefira cares not for quantity as far as support, but for quality, meaning people who exist for the underground, not the mainstream crap that misinforms people to what extreme metal is really all about.
Lyrically the band is weird as hell, and not very typical of death metal; I got the impression they did not even truly consider themselves to be death metal but it was apparent that is the type of bands they preferred to be associated with (does that make sense?).

The production is superb, and the band sound tight and powerful, but....here's hoping they re-release Quick Turns as a stop-gap and concentrate on writing some great pop songs for their next real comeback album.

When I listened to Demilich’s Nespithe the first thing I took an interest in were the extremely low death vocals which are unimaginably recorded without digital assistance.
When listening to this record you can tell that as a whole the band is fairly competent with their instruments, yet they still manage to create songs that while not sounding like one another reach moments of repetition that may have you reaching for the skip track button.
To sum up this review I believe that with this release the band showed that they had great potential (It is too bad the band split in 1994) and that they were a reasonably unique death metal band, but in the end repetition vocally and instrumentally (particularly vocally) has a tendency to dominate this record.
