The Radical Democratic Party (Bulgarian: Radikaldemokratičeska Partija) is a liberal party in Bulgaria.
The party was founded in 1902 (other sources: 1905) by Naičo Canov and other dissidents from the Democratic Party.
She was succeeded in 1994 by Aleksander Jordanov, and the party became an affiliated member of the Union of Democratic Forces.

The Bulgarian Social Democratic Party (BSDP) was an offshoot of the movement that produced the BCP.
The main socialist party in Bulgaria between the world wars, the BSDP was disbanded by the communists in 1948.
The Petkov branch of the Bulgarian Agrarian National Union (BANU), the third of the prewar parties to emerge as an independent entity after Zhivkov, was the part of the agrarian movement that had actively opposed the communists between 1944 and 1947 and thus did not survive the postwar communist consolidation.

In contrast to all other parties and organizations in Bulgaria in which the important and consequential decisions are taken by delegates of the membership, in the LDU all vital decisions are to be made by the Council of Heads.
Of all four parties it is the MRF that is most concerned with "preserving the identity and specific structures" of each of the member parties.
The political weight of the rest of the parties in the LDU is only symbolic, but with the establishment of the Union they have obtained substantial presence in political life and the media being well-aware that the MRF plays the role of a "space launcher" for them.

Bulgaria is a parliamentary republic ruled by a democratically elected government.
President Zhelyu Zhelev, former chairman of the Sayuz demokratichni sili (SDS, Union of Democratic Forces), was elected in 1992 to a five-year term in the country's first direct presidential elections.
During the Second World War, when Bulgaria was a Nazi satellite state, persecution of the Jews began with the Law for the Defence of the Nation, which was modelled on Nazi Germany's Nuremberg laws and adopted in January 1941.
