  Congresswoman Donna Christian-Christensen - Virgin Islands - Biography
As a registered member of the Democratic Party of the Virgin Islands, she has served as Democratic National Committeewoman, member of the Democratic Territorial Committee, Delegate to Democratic Conventions from 1984 to present, Member, Platform Committee of the Democratic National Committee from 1988 to present.
She was elected to the Virgin Islands Board of Education from 1984 to 1986 and was appointed as a member to the Virgin Islands Status Commission from 1988 to 1992.
She is the granddaughter of the late renowned Virgin Islands educator Elena Christian.

Party activities and expenses that indirectly benefit candidates but that are not directly attributable to any clearly identified candidate are not considered contributions or coordinated party expenditures and therefore do not count against those limits.

The next most populous islands are Virgin Gorda (8.5 square miles), Anegada (15.2 square miles), Jost Van Dyke (3.2 square miles), Peter Island, Marina Cay and Guana Island, They are all hilly and of volcanic origin, except for Anegada, the most northerly, which is low lying and of coral origins.
The Virgin Islands' peaks made such an impression on Columbus in 1493 that he named them Las Once Mil Virgenes, after the legendary 11,000 virgins who St. Ursula (a British princess) was supposed to have led to their martyrdom near Cologne in Germany.
The National Democratic Party, which came to power in June 2003, has already announced its Legislative agenda entitled "Empowering the People," a four-year plan committing the new Government to delivering a sound economy, state-of-the-art health care, upgraded social services, a world-class education system, 'government in the sunshine' and improved communications.

The number of delegates a state sends to the Republican National Convention or the Democratic National Convention is determined by formulas set by the respective parties.
American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands send delegations to the conventions, however their numbers are calculated differently (as is DC for the Republicans).

I am outraged at the most recent expression of this losing strategy -- the decidedly undemocratic actions of Democratic leaders and political consultants who forced Barbara Hafer out of the 2006 United States Senate race in Pennsylvania - in favor of a candidate who opposes women's reproductive rights, a fundamental principle of the Democratic party.
I cannot in good conscience support Democratic party organizations that encourage anti-choice candidates against women's rights supporters.
Remember that women are the vast majority of both the voters and the fundraising direct mail supporters of the Democratic Party.
