Democratic Solidarity Party Denounces Persecution of Opposition Activists, Journalists
The government has warned activists in the Democratic Solidarity Party that, unless they cease their activities, DSP leader Hector Palacios and other members of the DSP Executive Council, currently under arrest, will be punished with long prison sentences.
In its open letter, the DSP issued a plea for strong international solidarity for Cuba ­ especially world-wide support for a general amnesty for all political prisoners, an end to government repression against dissidents and independent journalists, and the legalization of both a free press and opposition organizations.
