The Democratic Unification Party (in Spanish: Partido Unificación Democrática) (PUD) is a political party in Honduras.
PUD was founded on 29 September 1992 by the merger of four leftist clandestine or semiclandestine political parties, namely Partido para la transformación de Honduras (PTH), Partido Revolucionario Hondureño (PRH), Partido Morazanísta de Liberación Nacional (PMLN) and Partido Renovación Patriótica (PRP).
That act was a follow-up of the Esquipulas Accords, by which the Central American governments agreed to give the revolutionary groups in the region possibilities to organize legally and participate in the political process.

The FDP (Freie Demokratische Partei, Free Democratic Party), although being a liberal party, has always been more or less a mixture of more left-liberal (for civic rights) and right-liberal (nationalistic) attitudes.
With the SPD-FDP coalition 1969-1982 the left-liberals became more prominent in the party, and even before that decidedly right-wing members left the party, at least in part joining the 1964-founded NPD.
Especially in the new Länder (former German Democratic Republic) the FDP is very weak, in spite of its unification with the former East German parties LDPD and NDPD.

One of the big winners of the German elections on 18 September 2005 was the Linkspartei (Left Party), basically the former PDS.
They changed their name in July 2005 to accomplish a unification of the party with the new West German left movement WASG (Arbeit and soziale Gerechtigkeit — Die Wahlalternative, Labour and Social Justice — the Electoral Alternative), that also includes former SPD chairman Oskar Lafontaine.

The PL also became the largest party in parliament with 62 seats, while the PN won 55.
