On the other hand, it has been estimated that even at the height of Spanish domination only 10% of Filipinos were able to speak the language of their masters, and undoubtedly fewer still learned it as a mother tongue.
Yet in the Philippines, terms such as Castizo were never used, being that in the archipelago anyone who was of mixed race was deemed a "mestizo", whatever the race combination or the ratio of said ancestries.

Industry seemed to be one of the biggest reasons for the steady growth in the Philippines, because of the El Nino weather pattern, it made for moderate agricultural growth in 2002 until the present.
The Philippines are a haven for drug smugglers, and a good portion of illegal drugs come from the Philippines and are dealt in many countries.
