These Are the Voyages... (ENT episode) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In this episode, Captain Archer and the Enterprise return to Earth to sign the documents that will establish the United Federation of Planets, at the same time the Enterprise is due to be decommissioned.
As details of this episode emerged, fans became divided in their views of what could be the final televised Star Trek episode for the forseeable future.
The episode does not explain why no one such as the MACOs came to the rescue during the incident, however in the context of the episode, Riker (and, by extension, the viewers) were only able to see what was happening to Trip.

In a Mirror, Darkly (ENT episode) - Encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
The episode closes on that note, with the final fate of all main characters unknown (many have been threatened with death, and Archer poisoned via champagne, but since their deaths have not been explicitly depicted, it is not known for certain whether they are actually dead, with the exception of Forrest, Soval, and Admiral Gardner).
These episodes foreshadow the future of the Mirror Universe (humanity's downfall and the rise of an alien-led empire) in its dialogue.
It was during filming of this episode that the cast and crew were notified of the cancellation of Enterprise.

Ex Astris Scientia - Uniform & Rank Inconsistencies   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
The latter idea is supported by the fact that the long-range probe Friendship One in the Voyager episode of the same name sported the arrowhead as the symbol of the UESPA (United Earth Space Probe Agency) as early as in 2067.
ENT: "Demons" finally showed a seal with this Starfleet symbol and the additional words "United Earth Space Probe Agency", implying that Starfleet Command is just a part of UESPA.
It is possible that the writer of the episode thought that "(Transporter) Chief", as O'Brien was commonly referred to, was a rank rather than a function.

According to the Associated Press, WB spokespeople said the network pulled the episode, the second one it's yanked this season, because it is sensitive to violence in the wake of the recent shootings in Littleton, Colo., and Conyers, Ga.

It comes as no surprise that by the end of the episode Gannett is in the brig, charged with being a Terra Prime spy.

TNG producers apparently were making a tip of the hat to the TOS episode "Balance of Terror," naming this ship for the first ever named Romulan character to be featured.
The events of the comic seem to fit with the milieu of the Mirror Universe that was presented in later DS9 episodes, but there are several varaint timelines in the mirror universe, so this may not be the history of those later stories.
It was unclear in the episode whether the Dierdre was a real spacecraft, or was a fictional one completely fabricated by the Klingons.

We envisioned Richard, some episodes ago, as Richard III, proudly but fatefully disdaining the bounds of conscience and honor in pursuit of his goal.
As the final episode of "Survivor" approached, the "Survivor" Richard, too, seemed bothered by demons.
But let's talk about less happy events, and recount the final, two-hour episode of "Survivor," the show that against the odds kept the surprises coming down to the very last seconds.

For the third-to-last episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, Peter Weller plays the heavy in a two-part story showing that humanity's final obstacle to the future is humanity itself.
Humanity is having one last hurdle to overcome in forming the Federation; in fact we find that the last hurdle isn't going to come from Romulans, it isn't going to come from Klingons, it comes from our own last vestiges of intolerance.

TNG actor says he understands ENT cast disappointment at his appearance but thinks it was good for franchise overall.
As creative, exciting, and innovative as the show was, it gained a devoted audience but not a full season, thanks to episode shuffling and preempting done by the network it aired on.
Only 11 episodes aired in the U.S., 14 overseas, and yet the show proved in those few episodes to have a compelling cast of characters, who I wanted to sit down with in their kitchen at mealtime while Mal and Zoe told war stories, or Jayne made some outlandishly inappropriate comments.

Season four would have been a better time to attempt an appearance of the Ferengi, but if the story were as stupid as the one they ran earlier in the series, it wouldn't have done any good.
In my opinion, the stories on ENT shouldn't worry too much about namedropping aliens that have previously appeared on the various STAR TREK series, they need to work within the context of what ENT has established so far.
The Gorn were not encountered by Starfleet prior to Arena, and that's the way it should remain.
