Demonweb Pits - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the Dungeons and Dragons fantasy role-playing game, the Demonweb Pits is the 66th layer of the chaotic evil-aligned plane of existence known as the Infinite Layers of the Abyss.
In the 3rd-Edition Forgotten Realms campaign setting the Demonweb Pits exists as a plane separate from the Abyss, due to the events of The War of the Spider Queen.
The Demonweb Pits is still a layer of the Abyss outside the Forgotten Realms cosmology.

Queen of the Demonweb Pits - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
G1 G2 G3 D1 D2 D3 Q1 Queen of the Demonweb Pits (Q1) is an adventure module for Dungeons and Dragons.
Q1 was the first module that offered a glimpse into the Abyss: a place that is home to demons in DandD, in which time and space stretch and twist in bizarre ways, in which portals allow additional sojourns into entirely different worlds, and so on.
Unlike the six modules that lead to it, Queen of the Demonweb Pits was not authored by Gary Gygax, the creator of the game and genre.

This is the most heavily guarded room in all the Demonweb Pits, of that I assure you.
This was to be the last time any of them gazed upon the endless bloodstone and swirling mist of the Demonweb Pits.
Our heroes had not dreamt of the carnage they would face in the Demonweb Pits, of the hellish twists, turns, and anti-architecture of that abyssal chasm.

Perilous Gateways - Dark Elf Portals - The Portal of the Demonweb Pits
This portal was created to transport drow clerics from the city of Menzoberranzan directly to the Demonweb Pits.
A character entering the portal may be transported into a far corner of the Demonweb, or directly into the presence of Lolth herself.
The result is completely random, though Lolth can, should it suit her, cause the user to emerge at a point of her choosing.

She is malicious in her dealings with others and coldly vicious in a fight, coveting the power of deities worshiped by the surface races.
Some believe her to be insane, because the Queen of Spiders pits her own worshipers against one another in an endless struggle for "station".
She can be kind and aids those she fancies, but she thrives on death, destruction, and torture -- including those of her own worshipers who have displeased her.

The heroes knew that once they entered the Demonweb, there would be no falling back until their mission was complete or all was lost.
Within the Demonweb, the battle began quickly, as the heroes encountered a group of spider elves guarding the other side of the portal.
Only the timely teleportation of a few of the heroes to the platform prevented Laveth from completing the ritual, though it was clear that she had gained significant power even from this partial process.

Lolth’s ‘relations’, such as they exist, with the other Abyssal Lords and Demiurges are absolutely horrible for the most part not as much because of her raw power, but because of her sheer skill at treachery, stealing/exterminating the powers and worshippers of others, and getting others to do her work for her.
She is an ardent supporter of the Blood War precisely because she contributes so little to it from the Demonweb Pits and because Blood War veterans make excellent potential ‘recruits’ for summoning by the Drow and participation in her own plans to extend her reach across the Primes.
When she is in the Demonweb Pits she will typically call several Advanced Yochlols, which are also known as the Handmaidens of Lolth due to their conversion to her worship and permanent state of servitude to her.

QUEEN OF THE DEMONWEB PITS combines continual adventure and action with humorous dialogue and characters.
While readers would enjoy the characterisation, veterans would feel cheated by the less than titanic battle between the rangers' band and the queen of the demonweb pit.
While the previous 2 books were great, Demonweb Pits feels more homogeneous in the progression of the story - it "flows" a lot better than WPM and Descent.

Dragonsfoot :: View topic - Q1, Queen of the Demonweb Pits, by Sutherland/Gygax (1980)
Published in 1980, Queen of the Demonweb Pits concluded the GDQ septet of modules by catapulting the PCs into the home lair of the Spider Queen herself, located on one of the 666 layers of the Abyss.
The radiant, golden pool in which the image of Lolth once floated has been discovered somehow to be a communications device, and the PCs have managed to establish a connection to the same rulers of civilization that sent them forth on this quest so long ago.
As an aside, I redrew the Demonweb map for myself in CorelDraw using distinct colors for each level so it was easier to see which level a given path was actually on.

Clerics of Eilistraee enlist the player characters to thwart the evil drow in their efforts to uncover the portal or, failing this, to seal the portal to prevent any possible misuse of it by the minions of the Queen of the Demonweb Pits.

Lolth dwells in her divine realm in the Demonweb Pits
In the default Dungeons & Dragons cosmology, the Demonweb Pit is located in the 66th layer of the Outer Plane
However, there appears to be some controversy regarding the status of the Demonweb Pits in that particular campaign: the 3rd edition campaign setting says that the Demonweb Pits are a separate plane, but in the novel Extinction by Lisa Smedman they are explicitly referred to as part of the Abyss
