Dennis Heeney, the former reeve of the Rural Municipality of Elton and a colourful political combatant most of his life, passed away last Wednesday at the age of 73.
Heeney, who was elected to the Elton council in 1971 and served as reeve from 1977 until 2002, was leader of Manitoba’s Confederation of Regions Party during provincial elections of 1986 and 1988.
Heeney spoke out against the initiative at a public meeting in Brandon, claiming that it would effectively amount to granting special privileges for only six per cent of Manitoba's population.

Dennis questioned if we needed to stay in Bucks County.  Larry answered that while we are keeping our options open, it is call the Bucks County Jazz Festival.
Dennis questioned what if someone could, such as BCCC, if they wanted to, hold event under the Jazz Fest umbrella.  Larry advised him that they could, but they would have to purchase a package.
Dennis advised that the logo would be hard to reproduce due to the used of several colors.  He will work on variations.
