Muren was born in Glendale, California, where he developed an interest in film-making and special effects from an early age.
Dennis is married to British documentary filmmaker "Dream of The Sea Ranch" and Landscape Architect Zara Muren, and they have two children together.

Muren: It would have to be the end battle, the biggest and most complicated - to create the Gungan army and the droid army and have them fighting the way they are.

The Winston Studio's maquettes, scale models of the finished dinosaurs, were shared with Muren and his team at ILM, where they matched the colors, textures and movements of the digital creatures so that they would mesh seamlessly with Winston's live-action dinosaurs.

Shots are not being designed with the effects in mind, as in the past, but the effects are being used to better convey a story, and that's good for storytellers.

There was enough to be gleaned from the combined talks of Dennis Muren, Rob Coleman, John Knoll and Scott Squires to write this entire column about how they did the effects for the picture.
Dennis, fresh from receiving his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, did a two hour exploration of the Gungan underwater world and how the Gungan/Droid battle scene was created.
A funny bit about Muren's collaboration with director George Lucas came when Dennis confided with the audience that Lucas saw the picture as a B movie, and said not to obsess on the details, although everyone in this business knows that visual effects people by their nature do just that.

Dennis Muren IS going to be working on the "Star Wars Episode II" stuff, but next year.
We've recently heard from spies at ILM who tell us that Dennis Muren will be in charge of the effects for Steven Spielberg's (or Stanley Kubrick's, depending on who you're talking to) A.I. Muren and ILM will be working on this together.
Since Muren will be lead on that project, he won't be working on Star Wars Episode II.
