James S. Dennison was born in 1801, in the Shenandoah Valley, Va., and there received his early training in farm work, obtaining an education, which, though of the usual primitive log-cabin type, afforded a basis for the general information and practical knowledge of his riper years.
Dennison resided a short time after his marriage on the farm now owned by his son E. He afterward began the hotel business in Claysville, thence moving to Uniontown, Fayette Co., Penn., where he was engaged in business until his tragic death in 1851.
Dennison returned to Donegal township, Washington county, and located on the "Old Stevenson" tract, lying one mile west of Claysville, which was part of a vast amount of land once owned by Hon.

Mark Schweiker, Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Executive Deputy Secretary John Plonski today announced the release of Phase II development funds for Nescopeck State Park, one of Pennsylvania’s last undeveloped state parks.
Bordered on the south by Mount Yeager and on the north by Nescopeck Mountain, Nescopeck State Park features a nine-acre lake, nearly 20 miles of trails, and six miles of the high-quality Nescopeck Creek.
The park’s land mass, which is composed of both state game lands and land acquired specifically for the park, is managed cooperatively with the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

 Fire Chief's Brother Is Suspect In Kidder Township Arsons
Moments after being arraigned Thursday on arson and related charges, the brother of Kidder Township Fire Chief David Troell admitted he helped start a fire at a vacant building and tried with two other Kidder firefighters to set a brush fire.
Troell, 20, of East Side, who has had other brushes with the law, said he apologizes to the fire department and the community, and asked people not to judge the entire Kidder Township Volunteer Fire Company by his actions.
Troell and Ronald G. Kearns, 19, of Dennison Township, Luzerne County, surrendered to police, then were arraigned before District Judge Joseph Homanko of Weatherly, who set cash bail at $55,000 for Kearns and $100,000 for Troell.
