When Montrose left Winter to form his own hard rock outfit, Montrose, Church was recruted along with singer Sammy Hagar and Denny Carmassi on drums.
After Hagar left Montrose to start his solo career, Church rejoined the singer for eight studio albums from "Nine On A Ten Scale" (1976) to "VOA" (1984) until Hagar left to front Van Halen.
Nicknamed "Electric", Church, along with Ronnie Montrose and Denny Carmassi had a "Montrose" reunion on Hagar's "Marching To Mars" CD (1997) on the song "Leaving The Warmth Of The Womb."

Although Denny was later a member of Whitesnake, he's not in this earlier compilation because of that.
I suppose Denny Carmassi plays here (as well as Jim Vallance) because they lost their original drummer, Steve Brookins, in 1986.
This was their second album, and it seems that their current drummer had problems in the studio, so they invited top session drummers for the album, Cozy Powell and Denny Carmassi.

Ann and Nancy joined the group in the early 70's, Mike left to become the band's sound engineer, and the band added Howard Leese (Keyboards) and Michael Derosier (Drums) in 1975 and they recorded their debut album `Dreamboat Annie' in 1975 (Mushroom Records).
In 1978 Roger left the band after breaking up with Ann and the band went on to record `Bebe Le Strange' (1980) and also went on tour after which Fossen and Derosier left only to be replaced by Mark Andes (Bass) and Denny Carmassi (Drums).
The girls returned to Heart in 1993 and recorded two more albums with Fernando Saunders (Bass), Denny Fongheiser (Drums), and John Paul Jones (Bass) who replaced Andes and Carmassi on the last two albums.

posted March 03, 2005 11:39 AM he did a brief tour with Foreigner a few years ago that was released on DVD, the extra footage on there is killer including some stuff of Denny warming up backstage.
The first time I heard Denny (& Sammy Hagar) was in the mid-70s on the first Montrose album; it has a yellow cover.

Heart is a hugely successful female-fronted hard rock band of the 1970s; the band became an AOR outfit in the following decade and continued to produce big hits.
The band, whose earlier sound fused elements of folk-rock and power ballads, was heavily influenced by Led Zeppelin — Heart's drummer during the '80s, Denny Carmassi later played with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page in Coverdale Page.
In 1982, after releasing their 6th album Private Audition, Fossen and Derosier left the group, and were replaced by ex-Spirit and Firefall bassist Mark Andes and former Montrose and Gamma drummer Denny Carmassi.

In 1973, session guitarist and former Edgar Winter Group-member Ronnie Montrose put together a band in the mold of the Jeff Beck Group (first edition with Rod Stewart) and in particular, Led Zeppelin.
It is my belief that if Alex had any other last name other than Van Halen, that he and Mikey would have followed Dave in 1985, just as Denny Carmassi and Bill Church followed Sammy when Montrose broke up in 1976.
Before Fair Warning, Eddie was thinking of going Solo, everyone in the band stuck by his side and begged him to stay and keep the band together.

It's true to suggest the Gamma 2 is slightly harder in sound than it's predecessor, but it doesn't lose anything in comparison.

But as he doesn’t play the drums and the guitar, he got help in both departments.
Nobody else than Denny Carmassi (Heart, Whitesnake, Foreigner, Montrose) played the drums, while guitar duties were divided between Rocket Ritchotte (David Lee Roth, Stan Bush, Cher, Rick Springfield), Scott McKinstry (from Lou Gramm’s band) and the legendary Ronnie Montrose.
The result is a very good record: solid melodic rocksongs, outstanding musicians (a lot of friends like Ronnie Montrose, Denny Carmassi, Ricky Phillips and Rocket Richotte helping out on this one) and a great production !
