The Philippines' Department of Trade and Industry (Filipino: Kagawaran ng Kalakalan at Industriya), abbreviated as DTI is the executive department of the Philippine Government tasked to expand Philippine trade and industry as the means to generate jobs and raise incomes for Filipinos.
Prior to EO 94, the Bureau of Commerce was tasked to develop and promote the country's trade and industry, under the overall supervision of the Department of Agriculture and Commerce, as stipulated by Act 4007 by the Philippine Legislature, enacted on December 5, 1932.
On June 2, 1975, the Department of Trade was created under PD 721 to pursue efforts of the government toward strengthening the country's socio-economic development, particularly in the area of commercial activities.

Today most of our industries cannot export just because we are too expensive due to the high cost of utilities such as electricity and telephone so they cannot compete in the international market and even in our internal market they have to strive to survive.
The Director and Officials of the Trade Department always travel and attend meeting but at the end of the day we can say that all these traveling are useless because there is no impact in the economic activities of our country.
If our Trade Officials cannot find a solution the government should take some measures such as replace them by people capable to come up with some changes or ask them to resign because us people of Vanuatu, tax payers which pay for their salaries are asking them in return to provide to us some results.

A trade cooperation agreement in information technology was forged between the Philippines and India during the recently concluded 8th Joint Working Group meeting in New Delhi, the Department of Trade and Industry said.
