The Department of Veterans Affairs is proposing to amend its education regulations to reflect changes in the eligibility period for children due to statutory provisions in Veterans Benefits and Health Care Improvement Act of 2000 and the Veterans Benefits and Expansion Acts of 2001 and 2002.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) proposes to amend its adjudication regulations concerning the level of hearing loss at which VA may pay disability compensation as if the combination of disabilities in both ears were service-connected, even though disability in one ear is service connected and disability in the other ear is not.
The Department of Veterans Affairs is amending its medical regulations to establish that in scheduling appointments for non-emergent outpatient medical services and admissions for inpatient hospital care, VA will give priority to veterans with service-connected disabilities rated 50 percent or greater and veterans needing care for a service-connected disability.

On June 22, 1944, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed into law one of the most significant pieces of legislation ever produced by the United States government: The Servicemembers' Readjustment Act of 1944, commonly known as the GI Bill of Rights.
By the time the original GI Bill ended in July 1956, 7.8 million World War II veterans had participated in an education or training program and 2.4 million veterans had home loans backed by VA. Today, the legacy of the original GI Bill lives on in the Montgomery GI Bill.
